    Hi guys,

I've not been here for a while as I'm putting weight ON each week instead of taking it off...
    anyway...
I have a marrow and I have no idea what to do with it.
I'd like to use it in tonight's tea but I'm not even sure if I *like* marrow....so can anyone give me suggestions of what to do with it, how to prepare it etc etc?

Cut it in half, scoop out the seads so it's a kind of hollow with some flesh left. Lean mince beef or lamb, onion, garlic, passatta, a cpl of oxo's, chopped peppers and seasoning. If on EE, you can make some mash to go with this too.

Part cook your marrow in oven, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake for 20 mins.

Brown the mince with onion and garlic, drain any excess fat from it. Stir in passatta, oxo's and chopped peppers, Simmer for 5-6 mins, then stuff your marrow. Cover in Foil, put in baking dish and put into oven, bake for 15 mins, serve with mash (EE) or lots of green veggies.

My concern is that I might not LIKE marrow, so I didn't want to make it the main focus of the meal....?

In that case then, chop it up and add lots of other veg to a baking tray and sprinkle some seasoning on, paprika, cayenne etc.. and bake it all, add chicken breast even with it and it will be yummy :) x

Do you like courgettes? Same thing. A marrow is a courgette which didn't know when to stop!!!

Marrows can be watery, so don't whatever you do cook it with any water at all. To be honest, they don't usually have a huge amount of taste, which is why most recipes are for stuffed marrows like the excellent idea above.

Do I tak the rind off or do I just cop it all up?

Sorry, treat me as someone who has never cooked in their lives before.
How long (in a gas oven) would I leave to roast or whatever please?

If you follow eternalflames recipe and you don't like the marrow you can just eat the mince and veg!

I love courgettes but don't like marrow. Weird!

ps - good to see you again Jes.

I suggest you freeze it and use it to bash him indoors over the barnet with when he's annoyed you. (guess who doesn't like marrow)
Or alternatively I would do as Eternalflame says as that way if you don't like it you still have plenty of other food to eat.
