Just another rant from me

Im really finding this so hard, Ive been doing this for 6 weeks and feel like im swimming but with a rope behind me so i'm not getting anywhere, yes i've lost 10.5lbs but people are loosing that in their first week..I still feel fat and disgusting, and i have this horrible stomach, which when i look down i feel 5 months pregnant and just feel disgusting, i saw myself in a mirror at the gym yesterday, and i just felt sick at what i saw..at times like these i'd turn to food for comfort, but im really not feeling any difference in my size..just the same, im getting tired of food optimising, and getting stressed at the idea of eating out wit friends

Im just at a loss, i really am...

Oh dear hunny. You sounds like your really hitting a bit of a low, even worse when you get tired of food optimising, you need to get more excited girlie! Why dont you try some new foods? and instead of the gym try a class, no mirrors and lots of team spirit! lol thats what keeps me going! or maybe, you just need a night off.. not to throw yourself into a binge of bad feelings, but to relax and let go, and start again the next day guilt free? some times i really find it relaxes me after some hardcore food optimising when i need a brake and puts me back on track. I think your also needing some self-love. If you look at yourself and concider yourself some of the awful things you'v said hwo will you ever begin to see the positive affects of your new healthy eating? how about being able to go to the gym and do exercise, and feeling healthier within yourself? So what if some people are loosing 10.5 pounds in thier first week.. I can only assume they have been heavier than u to begin with and need to loose more, or in fact have had such bad un-healthy diets to begin with that the new eating plan has really shifted it for them in thier first week?

i think you should stop beating yourself up, how will you ever grow as a person and feel good about yourself if you put yourself down and do not credit yourself for what you are doing, and your achievments so far??!!

*hugs & Loves*

Hey hun,
10.5lbs is fantastic - please don't compare yourself to others hun, this is your body and your weight loss plan. Before you give up think how much worse you would feel if you put back on all the weight you've lost and more.
We all feel like giving up sometimes so coming here to rant is a good start. Why are you getting bored with it? Same plan everyday? Same foods?
We all have our body demons but look at the positive - you are doing something about it!
Please write back and rant and rave if you need to.

All the best

Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be...Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you'll live as you've never lived before.

something I read somewhere:D

Come on Huneybunch! Put the equivalent of your weight loss in tins or potatoes/books, whatever, and carry it around for 5 minutes and see just how heavy it feels. When you first lose weight I reckon we lose a thin layer from all over so we don't really notice, and it helps to have something tangible to focus on instead of the scales.
If you are doing loads of exercises, then remember that for the first few weeks (until it evens out) you will retain water in your muscles, so your weight loss may not be as big, BUT your measurements will change and you will change shape. Get your tape measure out every month, and the benefits of the exercise will soon show, cos your metabolism will be higher and you'll be losing fat.
Last time I was a member at a gym, I hardly lost any weight but I dropped 2 dress sizes. 10.5 lbs is a significant amount of weight, please don't compare yourself to anyone else, it's a healthy way to do it, and if you carry on then you WILL get there, and you will feel wonderful. You know where we are! We're here to help you.

Just think if you hadn't started to diet 6 weeks you may have gained another 10.5 lbs.......

You are doing so well and you have lost so well already.

We all have our off days when we feel we just aren't getting anywhere, but you are, it may be slow but that weight is coming off, best wishes and good luck to you for your next WI. X

Up to my weighin last week (week 4) I had only lost 5.5lb but on the plus side I haven't felt hungry and I haven't had one craving. Not a piece of choc has passed my lips in the last 5 weeks. I had bread for the first time tonight (2 wholemeal from a 400 g loaf).

I would be laughing if I had lost 10.5lb in six weeks.

It took me about 9 weeks to lose 10.5lbs so you've done very well to do it in six weeks. I always used to compare myself to all those who lost huge amounts each week, but now I know that the majority of people only lose 1 or 2lbs a week. I've lost a stone now and my tummy feels as big as ever. However, I have actually lost a couple of inches off my waist, it just doesn't show yet as I still have over two stone to go. My husband has lost only slightly more weight than me, but as he's got a lot less than me to lose, his weight loss shows a lot more.

You have done so well so far but it can be so frustrating when you can't see much difference for all your hard work. However each pound off will add up and before you know it you will see a difference, especially when your clothes start being too big for you.

Although I don't feel as though I look much different yet, I know that eventually my tummy will get smaller and I will look better. In the meantime I can eat lots of exciting, different meals and never have to go hungry. I can even go out with friends and have a drink as long as I count my syns.

So hang on in there. You have actually done very well.

thanks guys, its the socialising aspect... i feel im missing out on a student life right now, my friends drink FAR more than me, I only ever have 2 vodka and diet cokes when going out (usually about twice a week) I miss drinking the cider, the kebab after a night out and then the morning hangover with a dirty fry up!
I'm going home earlier as im not having as much fun, on top of that eating out has become a living nightmare, me and my friend used to go out for lunch twice a week and catch up and i'm now dreading going out with her, she's being supportive but its the resturants, i hate being picky and i hate the fact I can't end up with what I fancy, but instead have a side salad and a diet coke...Or If im pushing the boat on a red day, a chicken salad with caesar dressing, but i'd take off the cheese and the croutons..and take off some of the dressing aswell..

On top of that my bowel movements have been all over the place, one minute i'm constipated, next minute i have diaorrhea..I've never been constipated till I started SW! Tomorrow is weigh in, and my god a loss would be good..but will it be enough?! I'm just feeling down and stressed and obsessed over my food, someone who i never used to be

Tell us which plan you are doing and we'll see what we can do. I can understand about going out and student life as I'm that age too. Thing is you have to make a decision whether you want to go out on the p**s every night or you want to make your body healthier for the future? You could try what a lot of people do here and have your syns weekly, then you've got a bit more flexibility when you go out.
As for meeting your friend for lunch that can be hard - I also do that a lot, it's about making smart choices, not just the salad. There is a eating out guide at the back of the directory and you'd be suprised how much you can eat.

I know it's hard, but the decision is yours hun; no one can make you do anything you don't want to.

Good luck,

Hi NN89, I feel pretty low with SW sometimes. I do feel as if my life is on hold for now as I used to eat out with friends a lot, and now I avoid it as it is too much hassle. I rationalise it with the fact that I spent years doing as I liked (eating, drinking, not exercising) and that has left me miserable, so a period where I concentrate on dieting and exercising is not too bad, and it will all be worth it when I am no longer a blob!
Tracy (PS. I am feeling quite positive today - much better than yesterday)
