£120 to sign a form???? WTF??? Does it take them most of the day to sign it then? I feel so lucky my Doc said 'oh well done' signed it and I left. How dare some of them make you feel like you're 'wasting their time' or 'silly'. Disgusting.

On a brighter note PinkButterfly love you've had some great advice here, definately start on a slightly higher plan, your BMI is 40 ok, within a week it will be in the 30's then if you wish you can change to SS, then there will be no stopping you! Go for it girl, we're all here to spur you on! xxxx

apart from excercise did the insensitive doctor suggest anything else?
i would try to see another doctor in your practice to get it signed if not try one of the higher programs and keep bothering your doc till they sign

I hope you're able to find a solution - I don't know whether you'd be able to do SS+ without the form as others have suggested too.. If not then what about the 810 plan or something?

Guys...I thought you had to get doctors signature to follow ANY of the CD plans if you have underactive thyroid? Am i wrong?

Definitely speak to your CD again & see if she knows of any sympathetic GP's who would see you privately to sign the form (albeit at a cost). I had a major battle with my GP to get him to sign a health form for professional registration for my career and had to ring round every GP surgery in the area to find one who would see me privately to complete the form. Eventually I found one who would do it (at a cost of £100, when he saw the form he couldn't believe my GP wouldn't fill it in and only charged me £20!)

It constantly amazes me how GP's can get these unshakable ideas into their heads and there seems to be no one who can over rule them, or even advise where you can go to get a second opinion. I really felt that I was going to have to go down the route of claiming that my GP was discriminating against me because of my disability - just as well I wasn't suffering from stress as well!

Actually you are not asking for your doctors permission, simply their signature to say that everything you've declared on the form is correct. Try another doctor hon, if you have no luck, simply do one of the higher steps for a while till your BMI comes down a bit. good luck hon xx

Yeah, I was going to comment on that. If your doctor says (s)he doesn't approve of CD just tell 'em: 'I don't want your approval, I want you to confirm everything on the form is correct'. Doctors can be smug cocky burgers at times, be one back!

I had a huge battle when i first took the steps to starting this diet, i was told i couldn't do it by the head health specialists at cambridge as 5 years ago i was bullimic for around 6 months. ( i was 15 or 16- and a mess.. ) I had answered honestly when my cdc asked me all the questions.. and my honesty got me nowhere! i couldnt believe that something i'd suffered with for such a short amount of time.... and SO long ago now could still effect my life and choices- i was gutted!! i cried too for the best part of two days. I literally believed and still do believe that this is my best chance in getting to where i want to be with my weight!

i flipin fought my case!! i wrote letters, emails, to both my dr, and the health specialists and to head office.. and after about a month of two and throwing.. i got a phone call from my cdc-WHO IS AMAZING, and really fought for me too- saying they've allowed me. that was a month ago today.


There is hope hun, Just keep fighting and do everything in your power to get you there!- if one dr says no, try another one. It's your life and body after all. They have no right to tell you yes and no! screw that stupid dr. lady! It will happen for you, and you will lose this weight- and you will be healthy.
