Is my target weight unrealistic?

Hey guys, this is bothering me quite a bit atm, I'm 19 stone, and I would like to be around 12 stone, I have always been quite a big guy, and it feels weird to think that I could actually be 12 stone!

Should I lower my expectations and have a higher target weight, or do you think 12 stone is a good milestone or what? :)

Your thoughts and opinions would be lovely ^^ thanks!

Oh, and because i'm a fairly big chap, how long do you think it would take to reach my target weight? As an estimate :) so I can add the extra weeks on my signature to spur me on a little bit more haha thanks :D

Have you checked what the weight range is for your height. I would have thought that 12 stone was quite low for someone who is six foot. Then again maybe I've not set my goal low enough, I'm aiming for 11 stone but I'm only 5'4".

Go for what you think you'll be happy with, 11 stone would be my perfect world weight I think. A 7 stone loss is definitely something that can be achieved on this diet.

well for losing 7 stone it would be about a stone a month-depending on the individual...erm about 7 months then but i dont think that would be correct as most people tend to have months were they lose loads more than a stone.its hard to say!!

Hmmm... To be honest for your height I would go to about 13 and a half stone... Guys look sooo much better with a bit of meat on their bones!!

Im sorry, no idea for a time scale, everyone loses at different rates on LT

Thanks girls :) I think I will knock the goal up then to around 13.5 - 14 stone, so I'm not dropping too low and what not :)

Hiya hun! What you want to do is definately achievable! But you have to bear in mind when you start losing weight and seeing differences in yourself you might change your mind about what you want to get down to! You might not want to go as low as 12 stone! I've set my target to get 3 stone off this time...but as i'm just over 5ft8 i think maybe i'll look too slim at the weight i'll be then!

As for losing it...for some reason men tend to lose it quicker than women..plus the bigger you are the more you lose at first! Theres so many different things to take into consideration that you'll constantly reassess yourself all the time :D xx

This might not be helpful, but I think that it's too early to tell what weight you 'should' be.

I started at 20.5, and had no idea what my target weight should be.
I aimed for 16stone, and decided than when I got there I would just take it pound by pound.

Once the weight starts coming off, you'll begin to get a 'feel' for what is right for you.

As for an estimated timeframe, try not to think about it too much - the time it could take seems to be a lot when you are starting out, but once you get going with it the months will fly by.

In theory, 1stone=1month of abstinance, but that can be quicker for some and slower for others, so in my book it's better to just think along the line of "it's done, when it's done".

Yeah thats something to think about aswell Lou! Thanks alot :)

It's a bit weird to me, because this is the first point in my life where I've actually had to forward plan something like my weight, usually it's just been "oh I'm gonna diet, hope I lose some weight :)" without actually having a plan and a target, and now that I have this opportunity, it's pretty exciting to imagine myself at a nice weight like that ^^

Hehe it is aint it...i still get like that now after having done this diet for bloody ever. I've never been slim..well not since i was about 10 anyway, lol, so i get excited at it too :D whens your first weigh in?xx

It is exciting aaron!! it is a really good diet! I loved LT, And aslong as you stick to it you wont be disappointed!!

And yep I would just take it was it comes! But dont loose to much.. Skinny blokes just dont do it for me im afraid!! lol

My first weigh in is on Tuesday :) tomorrow is my sixth day on LT, yay ^^ I feel mentally sound knowing that I have stuck to this 100%, and I'm anxious to find out what I've lost heh :D

and aww Chelly haha, I understand what you mean yeah, it's the same for me and girls really :) I prefer a little meat on them rather than just skin and bones haha! ^_^

and a tip for when you feel hungry--read refeed diaries...when i read it i think of the awesum food im goin 2 have when iv finished!!im so jealous chelly!!hehe...bout 4 more weeks and il be there!!

Awwww you've only got one more day! Well jealous...this week is killing me and i've got till Thursday! I'd put money on the fact that you'll have a huge loss this week :p xx
