Is there a good time to start?

How did you plan the when and how to start CWP?

Was it the weekend because you need your own space to start off or Monday at work to keep your mind of it?

Hi Sammy, I started mine on a Monday, purely because thats the only day of the week I have time to go and get weighed. I know people who have started over the weekend etc.. though as well.

My instinct would be to say Wednesday or Thursday (assuming you work a normal Monday to Friday week and have weekends off). Day 3 or 4 is usually the day when you feel worst because your body's on the cusp of switching over into ketosis - it can make you feel a bit poorly but it doesn't last long (and not everyone gets this). If the day that hits is a Saturday or Sunday then at least there's more chance you can take it easy (though maybe not, if you have kids :)).

Another thing to bear in mind if you're at all like me - do not attempt to begin this diet in the week before TOTM is due. PMT and Cambridge are not a good combination!:rolleyes:;)

I wound down into it, so before my 'start date' I'd had:
week one of eating kind of normally but with fewer carbs, very low fat and no snacks
week two of the same but managing to do it more, plus getting really into water and quitting caffeine
week three I started.

So by the time I started it wasn't so daunting, and it didn't hurt. Really glad I did it this way - it was quite easy to start on a wednesday (I'd picked up the products on the monday).

and by then I'd planned what I was going to have when, etc etc.

Good luck with however you do it - the first few days can feel difficult whenever you choose - I guess it depends on your home life/work life/support/privacy etc. I don't have anyone at work knowing that I'm doing this - wouldn't even be a normal conversation to have with them anyway - and then at home I never shut up about it - OH is probably sick of it! bless him.

Let us know what you choose and how it goes for you xx

Very sensible words from Enough - it's not the best time to start if you've had a last-minute celebratory 'binge' beforehand as you'd have a massive carb rush then have to go cold-turkey with just the CWP products so cutting down on carbs for at least a week makes it more manageable

Ooh I had a last minute binge before starting, didn't think about cutting down beforehand, think either way you'll feel hungry but cutting down is prob the best way to go!

Only on day 2 at the mo, my CD councillor said Friday is a good day to start as by Monday (back in work) u'l be in ketosis and be over the worst.

Hope it goes well for u x

Well, I bought all my stuff on a Sunday and really wanted to get started ASAP, but I knew I'd want a couple of days to eat things I liked, and have a really nice Valentine's day meal (and a bit of every sweet/chocolate thing I liked :)) before getting into Cambridge, so I started on a Wednesday for no really good reason.

The first time I started on a Monday, because it was the start of the week and that's a go time to start diets, so there :p

Although the symptoms can be difficult to put up with, they aren't unmanageable. As long as it isn't your worse, busiest week ever I don't think the specific day makes that much difference. Or at least, it doesn't for me, caffeine-and-carb withdrawal and all :)

I was going to start Tue coming as I wasnt going to tell my hubby to be, But I told him and then planned to start Monday as he was more supportive of the plan than I thought. I am now starting Tomorrow, Sunday as I cant wait to get into it.
Ive been and bought a blender, a beaker with lid, Lots of bottled water to keep me going and am very excited. For me something in my head has clicked that its a good time to do it so fingers crossed when I get weighed next Sat i will see a good difference x

I started on a wednesday for no other reason than i felt really ready then (had my 1st WI on the monday and got all my products but did not feel ready) I had a massive binge the week before on all my favourite foods, i would say it is probably better to cut down before so its not such a massive shock but i did not and have still not had any of the bad side effects. I did how ever feel really REALLY hungry days 4,5&6 but got through it. I guess there is no perfect day to start besides when you feel like you are ready =D Good-luck for whenever you do start.

i started on a monday - and the first of the month, but most significantly, i was on holiday from work - so all i had to do was lay in bed feeling pathetic!

I started on a Wednesday purely because I woke up that morning in the right mindset and felt focused (also historically I've always started and failed on Monday's :p !!!)

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice. Thursday/Friday is when I'm going to start. I have taken Monday off to give myself a long weekend so should be flying on the Tuesday :) Well you know what I mean!

Going to a Body and Mind Fair on Sat and the cinema in Sunday so should be a good start.

Spangles: I have PM you.

Thanks again!

Sammy
