I don't think so. I was trying to do that with my avatar and couldn't so put the photo in my photobucket first.

You can upload direct from your PC without having the photo on another site. None of my photos are on photobucket etc I just upload direct from my photos folder

Yes! If you click "post reply" on the top of the text box you should see a little paperclip icon. Click that and then browse and select the photo you want from your computer. Then upload and post. Hope that helps.
