Persistent dieter
Hello
Like many, I expect, I've been trying to lose weight my whole life. Sometimes actually managing to lose a few pounds, sometimes even a few stones, but always putting the whole lot back on. :sigh:
Having reached 17st 1lb (again), I've decided it's time to take action once and for all, this time by calorie counting. It feels like I've done every diet in the world, from very low calorie diets (I lost 5.5 stones on Cambridge a few years back) to WW and SW but this time, I'm just going to count. I've been to one of those websites that calculates your total daily energy expenditure and it worked out that 1,650 calories a day should lose me a pound a week (ha ha, we'll see
).
I'm starting today. I can't be doing with hurting everywhere any more. I'm 44 but feel more like 84 - though I'm sure there are 84 year olds out there in far better nick than me. And the real reason for calorie counting is that I've recently found out I'm intolerant to wheat, dairy and eggs. That makes life a little complicated! I've known for a while that bread makes me ill (I'll spare you the details
) but the dairy and egg were an unpleasant shock.
I've been experimenting with different foods for a few weeks now hoping that weight would just fall off after not eating the foods I'm intolerant to, but no luck. :8855:
In fact, having logged my calories for the food I'm planning to eat today, I've just realised that I've been eating a ridiculous number of calories while feeling very virtuous - doh.
And so it begins... I've had a read through some of the posts here and you all seem lovely, so I'm hoping you won't mind me hanging out here. It's going to be a loonnnggg journey to goal and it would be great to have some company.
Hope you're all having good weekends.
