Jumbo oats. What are they? I am probably bing dense but is it a brand thing or are they just, like, massive oats?

I was gonna make that SW recipe out of the mag this w/e (blackberry & apple crannochan) and I have some Oatso simple - will that do? Or are Jumbo oats essential?

Am tootling off to the supermarket later so Ill scout about if theyre essential but Id rather use what Ive got if poss.

    Thanks peeps! x :)

    Jumbo oats...

    Hi there,

I used normal oats the other day as its all I had in the cupboard, I didn't really see how it made a difference if the measurement is still the same. Very nice recipe by the way, I used summer fruits and apple instead of blackberries and apple

Jumbo oats are just not rolled / cut in any way, you get the whole grain.

I think they're really lovely, plumper and more flavourful than standard porridge oats or Oats-so-simple. They also feel a lot more substantial (but they do get stuck in your teeth :p).
