Keep failing, every time

Just seem to go round and round in circles. I lose a bit then something kicks in where I think i don't care anymore so I start gaining again, then back in to the same vicious circle again. I have alot of weight to lose. I would need to lose 5st just to sneak in to the healthy weight range for me. I just don't know why I do this to myself as I really want and need to lose it for my self confidence, to feel healthier and for my kids but I never do.

It's very hard and one thing I have learnt recently is that this pill is ok while you are taking it but once you come of it most people put the weight back on people need to learn about healthy eating and everything in moderation once you remove the little blue pill you remove the fear of the you've been tangoed effect I think that's why most people put the weight back on I think it's a case of re training your brain as daft as that sounds and good luck to you it's not one diet fits all

That's by no means exclusive to Orlistat, lol, the majority (around 95% they reckon) of people who lose weight using any method put it back on again, sadly. I've been yo-yo dieting for 30 years, so I can testify to that! But this is the longest I've ever consistently lost weight for (2 years) and the most I've ever lost (8st 10lbs so far), and one of the things I've done differently is take Orlistat, so who knows? On the downside I suspect it's made me ill, but you can't have everything! :) xx

My experience of orlistat so far is incredibly positive. I haven't found it hard at all. I've never once lasted longer than 3 weeks or lost more than a stone on every single diet I've ever done...and I've done lots!! I'm now in week 7, 25.5lbs down and never felt more positive!!! I've really enjoyed learning and taking more interest in food labels. I've socialised and have found it absolutely fine. My head is in the right place so I don't think " oh I can't have it"...I'm now thinking I "won't have it". My friends and family have been really supportive as I've explained the situation to them so they're happy to cook something that is safe for me! I guess everyones experience is different, but wanted to share my experience and hope that it would maybe show a positive angle. Good luck.

Hi, I agree completely.. It's all about the mindset - the tablets are an additional motivation! I took them for about 5 months and it got me well on the way on my weight loss journey, after I stopped I continued loosing and have now lost just over 12 stone! I am not saying there wasn't hard work and sacrifices along the way - I had to sit and eat a chicken kebab while everyone else tucked into fish and chips and have sorbet for dessert while others had delicious puddings - but I don't regret one "sacrifice". I am now 50% of my initial body weight and still find making the right choices difficult, but I wouldn't change any of it! Xx

I still can't believe you have lost 12st!! Wow :)

Losing that amount of weight is brilliant without using the pills you seem to be one of very few people who have succeeded as most posts people put on tell a very different story and Tracy what happens when your took of these pills and also healthy eating shouldn't make you ill

Hmmmmm...... flippin incredible!!! Well done you!! I hope you're incredibly proud of yourself! That's certainly commitment! :)

I developed gallstones which is apparently a known issue with Orlistat, but who knows what the exact cause was, no doubt a combination of things. Never had any problems with the tablets themselves, no "tango", just ended up feeling very unwell and did feel a lot better when I stopped taking them, probably because you're not supposed to take them if you have gallbladder problems. But if I'd known the risks, I'd most likely have taken them anyway. :) xx

Wow you guys are amazing!!! Inspiration right there!

Back on it today, taken me weeks to get my confidence up to say I can do this so here goes...again!

Alot of my problem is I tell myself it wont matter if I lose the weight, i'll still look like this. I have a really bad stomach from having 4 kids (one twin pg) and 3 c-sections all within a few years of eachother. Been told now I def wont get a TT on NHS as never has been any funding in my area for it and we can't afford it ourselves. It really does affect me, I don't socialise because of it, affects my relationship with my dh, feel very self conscious ect BUT i've finally realised that ok nothing can change that but I can change my weight and that would def help with my self esteem and at least wearing really tight hold me in underwear would prob be more comfy if I was slimmer, right? x

Oh absolutely. I used to wear a corset under my clothes if going out, to suck me in... however I then grew out of the corset!! lol....
I still have a right old belly on me, but I feel so much better so far and you know what.... I've had 2 kids, 2 c sections... am overweight, covered in stretchmarks.... but I'm a mum and thats just what happens!
I'm losing weight for me and my family. I've now lost 34lbs and feel so much better.... don't really look a whole lot different naked... ( not that my husband would notice anyway as I'm not a 'naked' person) but I feel better and that comes across. Nothing more attractive than inner confidence. You can do this, and I promise you that you will feel better. You belly will always be scarred... but thats because you'll always be a mum. I say that I've earned my 'tiger stripes'!! ;-) Wishing you loads of luck. x

Aw thanks! You have done so well, 2 1/2 stone is alot to lose, you must feel and notice a big difference :) xx

Thank you! Yep a massive achievement for me. Im always the overweight who "can't" and envy the ones that"can". I still can't quite believe it!:)
It's only been the last couple of weeks that ive felt different. I was getting really peeved as no one seemed to be noticing my loss.... But then last week, clearly the meat has started dropping off as now everyone is stopping me to.mention it! My bp has dropped significantly too so all in all...yup ...feeling pretty fantastic!! :) :D good luck in your journey. Im sure you'll do brilliantly!

So first 10days back on and weighted myself this morning to see I have GAINED 1/2lb :( how frustrating!

Gained from 10 days ago you mean? It could just be your body wondering what has happened, don't let it beat you, keep at it. Onwards & downwards xx

Half a pound could be water weight. It is possible to alter your mind set and change your eating habits. I have managed to lose 4 stone without using the tablets, just by eating none processed food and exercise. I was always the person who could never lose weight and my friends and family admit that they didn't think I would be able to keep it off. The only reason I'm on the tablets now to lose my last 4 stone is because I need a breast reduction due to back pain which is gradually getting worse the older that I'm getting (I'm 27 and even have a hunch!) keep going with it, it is possible to lose weight using will power alone, the tablets are just a aid, you've done all the rest yourself!!!

Good luck and make healthy eating a way of life not a diet!
