I keep seeing this mentioned.......... can anyone explain. in very plain english, what it is please

In the absence of carbohydrates the body is eventually forced to burn fat for energy instead. This is ketosis.

How ling does this usually take?

Hard to say - It all depends on how much glycogen (that is, carbohydrate) the body has stored, and that it has to use up first, and that in turn depends on body weight (bigger people have more space to store it!), on what the individual has been eating in the days leading up to the point where they stop eating carbs, and on individual metabolism.

So, on average, anything between 2 to 5 days.

PS - the weather can also have an impact! In cold weather we use more energy just keeping warm, and so the glycogen is used up faster!

But don't get too hung up on whether or not you are in ketosis because it is very light with this diet.

Thank you.

I have just weighed myself for the first time since starting.

2lbs off in 2 days xx
