I was doing so well on my diet today then got home, ate 5 cookies, 2 choc digestive, 4 pink wafers, 2 Jaffa cakes, quavers and 2 slice of bread! A French fancy, a small mars bar! Feel bad and sick now!! Urghhh so mad with myself! What a pig!!! And why! Coz I'm tired and needed a pick up, not just one! Several...only got myself to blame if don't lose on sat! I should have the willpower to stop eating, but I just completely binge... Going to bed, start again tomorrow....punishment is no syns til sat!!
  2. Apart from the bread, what were all these things doing sitting there waiting for you to eat them? I can't have this sort of stuff in the house, it calls to me from the cupboards!!

Don't beat yourself up, think of it as a blip, and start again tomorrow.

Don't worry about it too much, these things happen to everyone! I've started saving most of my syns until nighttime and just having a couple of mini packets of maltesers (or any other treatsize chocolates) together. Makes me feel like I'm eating a lot but I'm actually not!

When you start again tomorrow (or today by the time you read this!!), truly start again. Begin like today never happened and make sure that you have some syns. There is no punishment needed.

I completely agree with Lonestitcher. There is a minimum number of syns (5) for a reason. Besides, one of the great things about Slimming World is that it is designed for people to build a better relationship with food, and not alternate between superstrict and binge modes.

That said, I wonder if (like me) chocolate is a bit too much of a trigger food for you. Maybe plan to use your syns for something that you like, but that isn't a high-sugar binge-trigger. I sometimes make sweet french toast (syns are the bread) made by dipping bread into whisked up egg, sweetener and cinnamon mix, then fry over medium heat in a non-stick pan with frylight on both sides til golden. Serve with cherries (I buy them frozen in the supermarket and defrost in microwave so they're slightly warm) and vanilla activia. Delicious, and more satisfying than the syns equivalent of chocolate. If you want an instant fix, have a piece of fruit (or maybe make a syn-free pasta bake and keep it on standby for if you get the munchies. Crab sticks or syn free cooked meat it good for beating those moments as well). Syn free food is your weapon against binge-habits. Go stock up your armoury and battle it out xx

Thank you all! Feel back on track this am, not going to let yesterday get to me.

I couldnt stop eating yesterday either, working it out I only had about 20 syns but that was all from snack a jacks (1 bag of small ones) and the rest giant ones, but just didnt stop yesterday!

Today is a new day, you need your syns, even if you only have 5 a day for the next few days, they are there to help with little binges like these :)

I'd agree that you REALLY shouldn't think that you have to punish yourself til Saturday. That is the kind of mindset that for many people would just lead to more binges in a binge-punishment cycle. Maybe you will see a smaller loss this week but that is how we learn and change habits. If you are the sort of person who really likes to have a bit of a sugar-spree once a week instead of a little bit of chocolate every day, save up your syns and plan for it, or even do a flexisyn when you accept you will go over your syns for the day. But make that a plan for the future, not something for now.

A lot of people talk about having lots of chocolate and treats in the house 'for the kids'. I really don't see why this is necessary and I think it's worth questioning. When I was growing up we very rarely had chocolate, crisps etc around - we used to go to the shops on Friday night for a 30p treat after school and that was it, aside from the odd pudding. It's not my business how you decide to manage treats and your kids, but if it makes you struggle too maybe you could think of a different way?

When I was little and my parents started dieting, they suddenly took away all the chocolates and sweets from the house. I then went nuts and was secretly buying loads whenever I could. Their plan totally backfired on me - be careful!

Don't keep beating yourself up about it, we are all human and have days like that! Just start fresh from now

Yes I guess it depends on the age of the kids, pocket money etc!

I agree, that one word "punishment" is probably more unhealthy than all the syns you had! Relax and start afresh :)

I have curly wurlys and highlights hot chocolate in all the time which really hits the spot for me! I'm actually a crisp person but not craving them at all!
