loose joints

Has anyone found since losing weight their joints have become loose and clicking also my back is playing up could it be the weight loss?

Now that is strange you should mention this - I was complaining to my pharmacist yesterday that my back is really being a problem, very painful and my hip has become clicky - I assumed that arthritis would improve with weight loss but now I'm not so sure. Plan to see GP sometime soon because back is really sore.

It must be the fat has left room around the joints, I now a girl who lost 11 stone on a simular diet and she had knee trouble which she had never had before but it all sorted out, I just wanted to know if it was a flare up or just the weight loss?

I have been getting alot of backache, which I never had before :(

hi i been on it for 10 weeks and i have been getting elbow joint pains and the side of knee joint pains not the actual cap but it can be really painful

I've had clicky joints too, mainly my shoulders but I've had it in my hips and elbows too. Would think it would be better with less strain on my joints?
I take diclofenac everyday as I have all the symptoms of arthritis in my hands but don't actually have it (I'm double jointed so specialist said it may be because my finger joints are working overtime by bending both ways - sorry for gross factor there lol) so I wondered if it was just me being all disjointed elsewhere lol but guess it could be to do with losing so much weight and especially so quickly.

i have been noticing knee trouble and back trouble but i thought it was because i was riding motorbike so much more but thinking abt it i guess there is very little fat to help lubricate our joints. I wonder what they would say to cod liver oil.

I take diclofenac daily for my arthritis too and find the clicking and backache haven't been like this for a while and like you thought it would be easier now my weight has gone down, I can't imagine them giving cod liver oil etc the ok tho it would help no doubt I wonder how long it takes our bodies to settle in to not having the fat where it was?

Think any 'remedy' has to wait until we're finished with Lt. then I reckon cod liver oil -or glucosamin (sp?) - will have to find something - don't want to be on painkillers daily.

I'm the opposite. I have degenerative disc disease, and just before starting LT I was in a lot of pain most of the time. As soon as I had the first stone off, the pain disappeared! Its now only occasional when i have been overdoing-it. I must keep the weight off or i could end up needing metal rods in my back.

As for knees and hips etc, I have had no pain, as they were painful when I was obese.
I think you have to weight and see how you feel when you stablise. If you think about it rationally, if you were obese your joints would have been strained all the time, they are probably just getting used to teh less pressure on them!!
As Annes saide, Glucosamine is a good joint supplement
:)

there is a big difference between the fats we store as err fat and the fat like cod liver that helps lubricate joints just because we are obese sorry were overweight doesnot mean our joints were more lubricated lol

I think it may be to do with fluid retention and pressure on the joints that is less now - I'm no doctor but I have had fluid on my knees a few times!

Pitbull I don't think we meant our body fat lubricated joints, but that the joints were possibly surrounded by fat which kept them stable and loosing a great deal had caused them to be unstable - its strange that so many of us are having the same problem when we didn't have it previously - can't be a coincidence.

well i am sure your aware that fat is unlikely to stabilize joints it is more likely that because we are on VLC diets that our bodies naturally canibalise a certain amount of muscle the weakening of the muscle will likely allow the joints to move slightly more than we are used to.
