Low carb alternative for flour and/or oats?

I'm doing calorie counting rather than Atkins but I do try to not let my carbs go too high. I'm currently working on a pancake recipe using protein powder. I've got it pretty good but it's 39g of carbs (inc. 6g fibre) and 40g of protein. The number is ok but I don't want a 50:50 ratio, I'd rather 40:60 so want to bring the carbs down a bit. I use 30g of porridge oats and 20g of wholemeal flour. I tried without the flour this morning but the consistency just wasn't right so it needed it. Any suggestions of alternatives that are maybe slightly lower carbs?

Use flaxmeal or try the lowcarb pancake recipe a few of us have been using.

Two eggs
30g full fat Philly
Tsp Splenda
Cinnamon

Mix up. Let settle for couple mins. Fry as normal. Nice with cream.

Check the recipe thread or mim thread on our stickies. There are loads of ways for alternative recipes for that kinda thing.

You can also try using almond flour (ground almonds) to replace flour - yummy;)

I've never heard of coconut flour, what's it like? I tried to buy almond flour in Sainsburys tonight (was too late for Holland and Barretts) but they didn't have any. Where can I get it?

I've just ordered almond flour online. I'll give it a whirl and see what it's like. :)

How many carbs per pancake or slice of cake then using Coconut flour?? x
