RE: the exercise, offical LL guidelines say to not try anything too extreme especially if your body isn't used to doing it.
That said, if you want to start then swimming is a great thing to do, as is any cardio. You can do weights as well, you won't gain any muscle mass really as there isn't enough protien in the LL packs to allow you to, but toning is certainly possible if that's what you are going for.
I do around 1 hour of cardio (running, x-trainer or rowing machine) most nights and although it won't do much to help lose weight it definately improves health+fitness (1 hour's running at 4mph burns around 300 calories, you need to burn 3,500 calories to lose 1lb of fat, so you can see how it's more about what you eat than what you do that makes you lose weight!)
So long as you feel comfortable with the exercise you are doing, then go for it! It gets addictive!
