Extra Easy menopause and SW

    Can anyone help me i've been on SW for 3 months and I've lost just 3 lbs! Disastrous! Yale from me I am following the plan and filling in diary even did SAS diary for a week lost 1/2 lb! What am I doing wrong? HELP

    Hi. I'm at the dreaded menopausal age too! I hit my target a couple of years ago but this year I've struggled to stay in the range & I'm sure it's hormonal. For me the only way to resolve this is to keep portion control down ( I know they say it doesn't matter with free foods ) , but I find that if I eat free foods to excess then I gain weight! I know we are all different but smaller portions work

    No idea what you're doing wrong, but are you really sure you're doing it 100% do you go to class?

    Could the menopause be affecting my slimming progress?

    Medical experts inform us that there is little evidence that the menopause should be a direct cause of weight gain or inability to lose weight. Weight does tend to increase with age and many people tend to see an increase in weight particularly during young adulthood and middle age. This is thought to be primarily due to change in lifestyle and a gradual decrease in the amount of physical activity we do.

    Increasing your level of physical activity can not only help weight loss by helping you expend more energy whilst active but it also helps preserve muscle tissue keeping your metabolic rate high.

    Another way many of our members like to give their weight loss a boost is to include plenty of 'speed' foods in their daily Food Optimising plan. These are great foods to help satisfy the appetite and contain less energy than similar foods so can be a great help in giving your weight loss a kick start.

    I'm menopausal and have lost 4.5lb in three weeks which I am pleased about but I have watched my portion sizes of free food. I did SW in the past and struggled to lose weight but I was having huge bowls of pasta etc.

    Your metabolism, and therefore calorific requirement does slow down as you get older so exercise may help. Have you seen your doctor to rule out any medical reasons, or see if any medication could contribute to slow weight loss?

    The other thing would be to post your food for a day and someone may be able to see if there is anything that explains your slow progress.

    Thank you for reply, I sound ridiculous now but never thought about portion control! Though that once I kept the 2/3 - 1/3 I was ok. But of course you are right! I was shovelling super free fruit into me! So I will watch my portions and see how I get on, thanks you for replying to me I really do appreciate it.
