Wotcha... soz not been posting for a bit... been a bit poorly... :sigh:
A few weeks ago had my first pancreatic attack.
Basically I was watching Top Gear on Sunday night & had a sudden & violent need to be sick... after clearing my stomach I was still dry heaving & my stomach was in absolute bits... I couldn't stand up, couldn't lie down, couldn't sit down... I thought I had strained my stomach muscles from heaving with food poisoning & having no pain killers in the house took a large slug of JD as a muscle relaxant & to help me sleep.... BAAAAAAAD move
My stomach went into proper spazz-mode & I had pain like I had never felt before...
I eventually called a taxi to take me to A&E (still thinking it was food poisoning) & basically hyper-ventilated & near on collapsed in the cab... he still charged me mind
I collapsed on entry to A&E & queue-jumped everyone there They took me straight through & took some blood tests & then gave me morphine (1st time I had it - instant relief !)... once stabilised they dripped me up & took me through to a ward.
I had a full complement of medical students with the doctor the next morning... I think everyone wanted to see the fool with pancreatitis who took alcohol to stop the pain
My Amalyse reading was 3015 (my sister who's a nurse was impressed with that !).
Because of the alcohol in my blood tests they wrote 'alcohol abuse' all over my file Not true.... I had lost 5 stone earlier this year doing LT... before that I'll admit I was a binger (basically no drink for months & then weekend benders when catching up with friends).
I had a ultra-sound scan & a gallstone was found (apparently they can be common from VLC diets) but it was in the gall bladder.... so the right place for it...
I still have no idea what brought on my attack... I was released a few days later with a family sized pack of 30/500 co-codamal & a few weeks later my tummy still hurts (tender & sore... like knotted).
I've been told I've got to follow a low fat / low protien diet which is the exact opposite of the diet I was following after re-feeding from LT... ie high protien, low carbs...
I'm obviously not drinking (merry christmas !!) & been told not to drink again
So without wishing to alarm anyone - be careful / aware of stomach pains... ! I'm not blaming LT - far from it - I can't sing it's praises too highly... just be aware.
