Messed it up again!

#1
I feel I have completely ruined my loss again! I have just been out and had a large meal with the family (and on Friday I had a bit to drink and a macdonalds!)

I can't seem to be able to not pig out when I go out and I know I will feel really disheartened when I get weighed tomorrow and would of stayed the same or gained :(

I was completely clueless what to eat today so went for duck pancake starters (full of very unhealthy sauce I am sure) Then I had kangaroo steak, new potatoes and beg for main, which isn't to bad as I didnt any any extra sauces. But I gain in at the desert and had a super rich chocolate mousse. I know its daft but I feel really angry at myself for giving it.

Sorry if I am waffeling on I am just annoyed at myself about this and I feel really unmotivated with SW even though its week number two. I don't like unloading on complete strangers but my family keep telling me how well I am doing and how proud they are so I can't really say to them I am getting annoyed about it.

I know its to late to save myself from the dreaded weigh in tomorrow so I just have to hope its not to bad.

Please tell me someone else has had similar problems and that I am just not particulary weak

Plenty of people cave and do that! You just need to find your focus. :hug99:

Don't be too hard on yourself. The key thing to do now is to learn from the experience. If meals like this are likely to crop up each week, why not save some syns every week to use for situations like this. The starter wasn't too horrendous, and the main sounds really pretty good, so if you were to save some syns next time, then you could have that starter and dessert and stay in control.

The syns are there to make life easier and mean that we don't have to live without the things we enjoy, just enjoy them in moderation.

See what the scales hold, they might not be as bad as you think!

Hey
Tough love time i'm afraid.
It seems like you need to sit back and re-evaluate why you are doing SW!
What made you take that first step into class??
If you aren't really that bothered about doing it, is it really worth the self sabotage and mental torture??
SW isn't a diet, it's a way of life. What you need to do is make the decision as to whether you are really ready to make that change.
Science says in takes a month for a body to change its habits, so the first 4 weeks of SW are bound to be tough.
However, if this is something you want to take seriously and succeed in, all is not lost!
You are only at week two...theres plenty of time to make up for it
Everyone caves every now and again. What you need to do is make smart eating decisions, and hey have the odd treat every now and again....but you need to be in control.
If you are going to treat yourself...don't then feel angry about it. YOU make the choices...
When i was close to caving i used to say to myself 'if i gain because of eating this chocolate pudding...am i going to regret it?'

Sorry if it seems a little mean, i am a tough love kinda gal

I agree with the tough love!! It does sound as though now may not be the right time for you to do this if you are veering so wildly off plan already! Truly, you can do it if you really want to but your head needs to be in the right place. Maybe re-read all your literature, look at some success stories on the website and get some focus. Plan your meals and social life so that you are not caught out as you have been today. You can do it if you really want to, I think the key is forward planning, knowing the plan inside out and knowing what you want to achieve. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, Was just having a bit of a fed up with it all moment but I feel more focused and ready to pick myself up to carry on with the plan again tomorrow. I still had 50 or so syns left over from the week so I guess all isn't to lost.

Thanks for that Kate, Tough love is good sometimes.
I joined SW because of the flexability and that I am about to spoil myself some times I guess I am struggling to get into my head that yes I am on a diet but I am still able to treat myself every so often.
If I end up with a gain tomorrow I just need to deal with it and improve for the week after!
I think because I have never done a proper diet plan I am still trying to work this out and not feel so bad if I do have a bad day.

I am planning on getting my meals sorted out for the week so I can prepare if I am going to go out for dinner and just save up my syns.

Sorry for all of the moaning. I have had time to think about everything and ready to get started again and get more focused with this.

I don't know where I would be without this site for support and guidance, you all are great :gen126:

Have you read the thread about flexi synning
This is where it would have really helped if you could have got an idea of the syns beforehand you may have chosen not to have the pudding you chose
If the pudding you fancied had say 40 syns

I was trying to find a copy of the menu so I could see what there was before hand so it was a bit of a spur of the moment decision!

Sorry sent before I finished
If pudding you chose had say 40 syns and they had something else that you liked that was say 15 syns you might have chosen that if you'd known in advance
So might be worth looking at that next time although sometimes you just want something - in that case you just have to put it behind you and keep going
Took me a year to lose 1 stone 4 and get to target but got there in the end :)

Was the meal out for a special occasion?? We eat out at least once a week (on plan) i only do extra easy,& I have never Been out for tea and never found something I can have on plan, I don't have a starter unless it's a fruit based one, I choose sensibly for my main eg steak/chicken without any sauce ask them to cook it without oil ect, with jacket or new potatoes and salad and you can always go off menu (if you have got the guts to ask) and I NEVER have a pudding I wait until I get home and have fruit and yog & my hifi bar, if everyone else is having pudding I have a coffee so I'm not just sat watching everyone and I've still got something in front of me :0) YOU make the choices of what you put into your mouth and YOU can make it work if YOU want to xxxx

Planning ahead is really important in these situations, it sounds as if from what you said about being "clueless" that you hadn't done any forward planning.

It's hard when you don't see the menu beforehand but if you can't get to it maybe you can make some guesses of what will be on offer at that particular type of restaurant then look them up in your book, come on here and ask, you never know someone on here might have even been to that same restaurant! Also have a "bank" of things you know you're allowed and avoid other things!

I know it sounds daft but when you go out for a meal and have decided in advance I find that you don't get tempted by other things as you've sort of already made the decision, you sort of don't even look at the menu!

Desserts though... They're always a tricky one I'm still to eat a dessert in a restaurant so if anyone has any tips on that...!

Anyway good luck, hope you feel better and remember to keep at it!

I will remember the coffee idea for future. I think thats what the main thing was, watching everyone else tuck in and me just sitting there. It wasn't really a special occasion but we just havent been out in ages as a family. I was quite sensible on the main meal front which I was quite proud of but I will have to remember about asking how they cook it
Thank you for all that advice its really helpful :gen126:

I did try to plan ahead but its a small pub type one which doesnt have a website.
Didnt think about asking on here if anyone had been to it.

I know I have already said it but you all are great :) You offer support and hard love without being horrible about it!

(and I will admit I love all the smilies so sorry if I over use them :D)
