Milk.. Myth?

I was reading in the paper yesterday that apparently... might just be a myth once again, but if you drink a glass of milk before your meals it helps you to lose weight, as apparently the milk acts as a barrier? and therefore it puts up a wall to stop the fat from the foods you eat getting through ... anyone else heard of this? or is it just a made up story once again?? lol :D

oooo that sounds good love milk ,did they say how much what type,I cant drink fullfat makes me ill,but id drink skimmed before a meal x

nope they didn't say anything like that, but i'm guessing it will be skimmed as it is the best for you, also they just said a glass, so probably be about 250ml worth?? i'm not a huge milk drinker, only in cereal lol, but may give it a go! how many points would it work out to be though?? :D

if it's only 0.5 then yeah i'll give it a go! maybe not with breakfast as i have milk with cereal but with lunch and dinner might be worth it :D Milk is meant to speed up your metabolism anyway so it's all good! and will help the bones :p xxx

just had a look and it's got in the book, skimmed milk, 1/2 a pint (284ml) is 1 point :D so i'm guessing 250ml will be the same 1point :) will definitely try it! hope it works for you!! hehe have a good weekend too! :) xxx

Don't know if it's true but I must admit back when I lost weight in Sixth form I drank a lot of Cravendale semi-skimmed milk from the canteen and I kept losing weight.

They always told us at uni to drink a glass of milk before going out to stop alcohol being absorbed..... dunno how real that was though :p

Oh they do say to have a pint of milk on ww anyways (dont they :confused:)

I only use milk for cereal and tend to waste a lot, so 1 pint a milk is 2 point and im willing to give it ago as would love to speed anything up lol.

Also heard that drink milk to line stomach before drinking and so has my 16 year old :eek::eek: lol

Anyone giving this ago then? Im in if you are hahaha

I've never heard of this, but recent research has shown that a high calcium diet increases weight loss. Also if you drink a glass of anything before your meals you are more likely to eat less

I don't know about milk blocking fat... but milk is actually really good for you... the protein and fat in it help you to feel fuller, it contains a lot of vitamins and minerals in itself, and helps your body to absorb the other vitamins in the food you eat.

It's well worth including some milk in your daily intake!

thankyou for all the replies everyone! Thought i would leave this test until after my next WI which is tomorrow :D (well today as past midnight LOL :D ) also i'm changing my WI day from tomorrow to a Friday, so this week will only have 4ish days before i have a WI again.. so i thought might as well do the milk thing for a few days and see what differences it makes :) will let everyone know how it goes! xxx
