Morning ML

Doesn't sound like much food... Can I ask why only egg yolks? Apols if you've already explained xxx

There was rather a lot of steak so I ate it over 2 meals - so it's more than it looks like. I have egg yolks when I fry eggs because I don't like the texture of egg whites, that's all. I include the whites in omelettes, scrambles etc but it goes rubbery and ick when fried.

I had a dream that a childhood friend I haven't seen in years was holding a cake sale in the local college. I resisted all the cakes then went outside and bought a hotdog - eating a few big bites before I realized I wasn't meant to.

1) I only eat vegetarian hot dogs
2) I hate pappy white hot dog buns

Woke up very confused!

Lol ML.....I've had a few weird food dreams too!!!

The brain is a weird and wonderful thing!!!!!

Scream! Well the dream hot-dog vendor was quite a hottie. That's probably what distracted me into nibbling on his buns!

He's still not Christian Grey though :(

Sob sorry Jo the writing in 50 shades was so dire I couldn't get to the smut. Though am considering writing some porn myself if it nets me a million per day like the author! I usually force myself to finish even books I don't like because I can't criticize something I haven't read and I believe there are things to learn from bad books as well as good - but if I had to read about her inner goddess one more time!!

(actually the last book I didn't manage to get through was twilight - read the first one but was too bored to manage the rest - and 50 shades is based on twilight so maybe it was to be expected).

There are some great spoofs though - 50 sheds of grey (shed porn) and 50 shades of gran etc.

Quick question to anyone reading this (and an odd seque from porn, I know):

What was your favourite book growing up, and why?

LOL and you know who you can get to read drafts?! :D

What was your favourite book growing up, and why?

Lord of the Rings - I was so into it, I even tried to learn Elven. Why? Because I was an uber shy 10 year old and I found an escape into excitement and fables and magical powers and castles :)

Fascinating fact: I have written smut fiction in my dark and distant past. Bad smut fiction. Ahem. Honestly though there are only so many ways of writing insert tab a into slot b - I prefer to leave the specifics to the imagination and focus on how things build up.

And Susie! I speak elven too :) geeks unite! Love lord of the rings, the silm, hobbit etc. All the books I loved best were fantasy - narnia, Alan Garner, the Redwall books, Dianna Wynne Jones' Fire and Hemlock and her Dalemark Quartet...

Do you know when you paint a picture in your head about someone and then they come along and burst your bubble??!!! ha ha

Em... El... you have burst the bubble I blew about you... I had halos, angelic innocence and the sweet smile of purity!

And now you tell us your a porn writer!!! Good grief - how brilliant!

Hopefully better writing than the 50 shades author - and hopefully better than Twilight author - I couldn't read more than 3/4 of the first book. Are you published? could I purchase a copy on Amazon or eBay??

As for the H. Pott person... hmmmm

As you've let the cat out of the sack ... I'm now doubly intrigued.

xxx

Ahaha oh dear. Not porn, far less graphic than that, just a brief experiment when I was about 18 and finding my feet with writing let's say. I was never quite comfortable with it - almost impossible to write without resorting to cliche and I really am a little bit too much of a delicate flower for it - I'll never be in the bodice ripper trade, don't worry ;)

As for the H Pott person? For all that I love fantasy books for children and it's great so many kids read her... I find her books derivative and lacking the 'real' magic of the authors she gets accused of copying from. All writing is plagiaristic in its way so that wouldn't necessarily be a problem - and I did read all the Potter books, they just didn't manage to draw me in. Philip Pulmans subtle knife trilogy and Patrick Ness' chaos walking series would be modern YA books that I find very powerful.

Yes I enjoyed Pullman... And saw it also at the National xx

Ah ha! I wasn't wrong then ... A flower still ! :) xxx

I saw it at the national too! Really enjoyed it and very impressed with how they managed to stage such a complex book. The puppets were a forerunner to the designs for warhorse. I had a chance to play with a few of them at the national theatre archive two years ago. Saw both plays as a double bill, grabbing lunch between. Very hard on the emotions, those books. Everyone dies!

Not good on endings that aren't happy! Lol ... But it was brilliant nevertheless ...
