My weight loss and confidence gain journey

Reason # 2: The orange peach dress

I have this dress that I had purchased when I was much slimmer than I am now. Even then, it was an unforgiving dress. It was one of the dresses one just has to buy because you may not find one like it again. You tell yourself that you will lose the few extra pounds that you need to fit into the dress and you will look wonderful in it. And time goes by, and the dress gets pushed into the deep dark recesses of the cupboard. Did I tell you how beautiful this dress is? It's a peachish orangish dress. It's one of those gorgeous in-between colours that inspires new colour names. Ripe peach. Orange sky. Peange (peach + orange). Did I also tell you that this gorgeous dress has never ever been worn? It's a brand new five-year old dress.
So here my reason #2 for losing weight. I shall rock the orange peach dress.

Ah I have a pair of jeans I love my jeans and cannot wait to get them back on. Keep practicing the come backs I dare you to say one to the next person that insults you xx

Peange!! Love that! Brilliant goal to have. How much do you reckon you need to lose to wear it?

You will wear that peach dress and look amazing. Keep hold of it, it's going to get a lot of wear soon

Haha. Thanks Laura. But considering how old the dress is, it may just come apart the first time I wear it. Hehe. As long as I get to wear it once at least!

Haha. I will try Mel. But I am quite bad at it. The last time someone was mean to me I managed to say 'I didn't realise you were still in school.' Yeah, I know. Too subtle and he didn't even get it. :)

I think I will look good only if I manage to get down to about 150 lbs. My goal weight. And that is about 35 lbs away. I will get there sooner than later. All the support really helps Julie. :)

Week 2 weight-in

So, I had my second week weigh-in. My weight today was 185 lbs. That's around an 8 lbs loss in two weeks.

I know that it's not the kind of loss I see people get here in this forum. People typically lose that in one week. Maybe my system is messed up. I know I don't have PCOS or a thyroid condition, typically the reasons for slow weight loss. So, am not sure why my weight is moving so slowly.

It's easy to let yourself get demotivated. Last few days have been rough at work, am on three shakes/soups a day and the weight is barely moving.
But move it shall, unwillingly or whatever. It's simple Maths I tell myself. It has to move. So I have to keep at it. Keep reminding myself of the many reasons why I choose to lose all the weight. I haven't had much time this week but I will continue my series on the reasons why I want to lose weight. It keeps me on track. I have committed to doing phase 1 for two months and I shall stick to it no matter what. And with two weeks done, that 25% over. :)

Hey you 8lb in two weeks is totally on plan! People only have big losses in their first week Hun. Don't be too hard on yourself I would love to average 7lb over two weeks but I am not quite hitting that. Stay focused you will be there in no time xx

Obs I was thinking about your 8 lbs. so week 2 loss must have been 3lbs +, which is exactly the expected loss. My cdc said to expect an average of 3.5 per week which is about the loss you've had. Perhaps in week 1 you had less water to lose than some other people?

I really hope you're right about this. My consultant told me that the average expected weight loss in 4 weeks is about 13 lbs. So I have about another 5 lbs to lose in 10 days. I really hope to achieve that.

Yeah, so I only lost about 4 lbs of water weight before I went into ketosis. I believe some people lose upto 15 lbs. It is disappointing to not see a big loss in the first week, but like you said Julie, it's water weight and I have to be positive about the actual fat loss. :) Tell me, do you exercise on SS? I have started doing about 20-30 mins of Zumba and am loving it. But I see a lot of people recommending not to exercise when on a VLCD as it slows down the weight loss.

Reason # 3 Enough with the excuses

I haven’t been able to check in here for the past few days. I have been busy with work, weekend, etc. etc. Though, if I am honest to myself, it’s a bit of an excuse. If I prioritised writing my diary, I know I would have made the time.
My whole life seems to be strung together in a web of excuses. Excuses for not losing weight and not exercising. Excuses for eating wrong. Excuses to stay home and watch endless TV on the couch and excuses for not wanting. Excuses for not doing things I want to do and excuses for things that I don’t do. This kind of a life itself is a bit of an excuse of a life. And for what? A measly few pounds. So, it stops. My list of never-ending excuses. I will lose the weight. I feel good about myself. And I will start living my life.

Hey Obs, no I don't exercise at all at the moment. I am not terribly motivated to do exercise at any time however! I will need to start once I get closer to target and go up the steps, I know that. But nothing for now. The most I do is make sure my backside gets off the couch at some points during the weekend! During the week I work long hours (desk job) or I am travelling. So I am not very active at all. Probably why I need to do cd in the first place!,

Hi Obs I do not do any exercise currently and because I'm hypermobile I have to avoid impact exercise so I plan to start Pilates and swimming again as soon as I start to feel better from this awful bug. I love walking my dog and cannot wait for some energy levels so I can get out more with him. I'm not a gym bunny but aim to be more active in my everyday life going forward I used to be a lot more active but the past two years seem to have taken a nosedive and I'm struggling with motivation which is unlike me xx

I love exercising. Unfortunately, I am not very regular with it. But I do love it. So I am not sure whether to do it or not. I am not over-exercising. Only about 20-30 mins every day or every alternate day. But I read in a lot of places that exercising when you're on a less than 500 cal diet is counter productive. Not sure whether to continue or not. I have only lost 8 lbs in 20 days. I really don't want to slow my weight loss further.

That's not true Mel. You're one of the most motivated people I know. Remember you said 'In it or not in it'. You have to give yourself a break and be kind to yourself. You've been sick (and have a 4 yr old if I am not mistaken?). You're doing great under the circumstances. Just get better soon. :)

Feeling weighed down

Tomorrow is my third week weigh in. As of today I had only lost 0.4 kg this week. That's not even 1 lb. I am trying to keep positive and not get demotivated. But it is hard, I must admit. I haven't cheated once in these past three weeks. I have totally cut down all my socialising because I don't want to any temptation. As a single person living alone socialising is pretty much my only human connect (apart from work, which is not counted). It has to be worth it. I keep telling myself that the weight loss is still faster than any other diet I would have been on. It is not just 9 lbs that I have lost but I have lost NINE lbs in three weeks. I have to keep positive and keep at it. The scales have to give in at some point. It just has to.

Short term pain but it will pay off. It has to as you say. Just think how great you will feel afterwards at social events. Think also about all the money you're saving not going out that you can spend on loads of new clothes!

Obs have you been over exercising? My only advice is make sure you have a min on 3l water everyday. Don't overdo the exercise and if you are still not loosing anything then step up to 810 I have stayed in ketosis on this and just have a week at that to kick start you. Thank you for your kind works Hun I was feeling completely down in the dumps and your words have helped. So here I am returning the favour my lovely friend give it one more weigh in. If it's still not budging then try a week of 810 xx
