NannyDoreen & Upndown's daily diaries

I think every other shop in our high at is either a bakery, convenience store or takeaway! It's shocking x

Oh don't get me started.... I regularly rant about how the government keep on about the 'general public' (as though we, the great unwashed are different to them!) needing to cut back on this, that and the other, how our children eat too much sugar, how we could avoid practically every illness going if we didn't eat sugar, fat, blah blah and yet when you walk around a supermarket SO many products are exactly that, and its those things that are cheap and filling when you have families. Of course, they're also not going to 'ban' companies making all those products because of how it would affect jobs and general wealth of the country to lose all the associated food industry, including the fast food outlets. Its something that is very hard to reverse.... back to the days when shops mostly stocked 'basics' and not all the high fat, high sugar rubbish that is available everywhere now.
I know its not that simple but it still really irritates me!

oops, rant over.... sorry Doreen!

I love a good soap box moment! It annoys me that you can buy 9 2 finger kit Kats for £1 yet a punnet of grapes costs nearly £2! Gggrrrrr! X

Don't slimming world produce a special booklet or advice for diabetics Doreen? I would have thought they should, so might be worth asking. x

Sort of Cloudy but basically it is to let diabetics know to speak to Diabetic nurse/doctor. SW says that it cannot comment on medical conditions.

I have tried to cut down a bit but it is too hard. What I have decided to do it to get in touch with the Diabetic Association to find what they recommend. I am also keeping extra track of my sugars too.

No apology needed, it is up to you what you put Linda.
Anyway I totally agree with you

That list is very interesting but does seem a little contradictory, don't you think? It lists raspberries and blackberries amongst the low sugar fruits, and pineapple and plums in the high category but then in the list at the bottom it shows Raspberries have 8.8g of sugar and plums 8..4, whereas pineapple has 8.4 (blackberries not listed there). So, why is pineapple not in the lower category?
It certainly tastes sweeter to me than say, raspberries.

Yes I agree not consistant hence my decision to keep a check on sugars etc.

Hope u managed to sleep ok when you dropped back off Doreen? X

Morning Nanny D. You certainly seem to be understanding what effect your days food has on you, like eating bigger portions making you hungrier at night. I find that too. If ever we go out for an evening meal, I seem to wake up starving!
I think it's a bit of a cop out by sw saying refer to diabetic nurse/doctor. They could get specialist help to produce more information for their diabetic followers, in the same way they do for during pregnancy. Still with the caveat to double check with your own nurse to be sure.

Anyway, hope you slept more and have a good day today. It's horrid outside, wet and windy yuk xx
