I had knee surgery at the beginning of December. I was meant to have a full reconstruction of one of my ligaments, however the ligament in question has joined (somehow) to another ligament and the surgeon wants me to have re-hab as though I've had the operation for the ACL reconstruction. I had my cartilidge repaired instead. As a result of this I can't swim for 3 months, cycle for 3 months or run for 9 months!!

I understand this leaves walking, but after a while this hurts my knee =[

I do exercises the physio gives me, but these are merely just to strengthen my knee again. Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Why don't you ask your physio what would be suitable? They should say why you are doing specific exercises, and what to avoid. You should still be able to do core and upper body work as long as your knee is protected.
Ligaments have a very poor blood supply and heal slowly.
