New to WeMITTS - six stone to lose!

#1
Hi, I'm new to MiniMins, :)

I stumbled upon this site somehow when I googled for weight loss forums. This is simply the best I’ve come across. There are some truly inspiring people and stories on here, which I’ve just loved reading. Overall I have almost six stone to lose - it seems forever away, to be honest, but I’m determined. I’ve struggled with my weight issues since childhood - mainly due to a medical condition. It makes losing weight extra hard since my energy is limited (for exercise) and my metabolism is sluggish. However, I’ve been sticking to a calorie controlled diet for a few months now and seem to be losing weight.

I only weighed myself recently for the first time. It was a shock to find I’m sixteen stone - even with my tall frame. I’ve always been someone that “carries it well” - I think my Mother would be horrified if she knew what I truly weigh. Sigh. I’m aiming to lose six stone in the long term, but four stone will put me within a “normal” BMI range. My aim from now until Christmas is to lose at least two stone. I hope that’s achievable.

I have a horrible relationship with the scales, often jumping on and off them daily. So I’ve decided to weigh myself less frequently. My big weigh in day is Saturday and I’m really hoping I’ll have got below 16 stone by then.

I’ll let you know how I progress over the months. It’s both daunting and exciting to finally take control.

Thank you.

It's only mid-week and I'm back in the 15s according to my scales, which is a big deal to me. I know I haven't weighed less than 16 stone for at least eighteen months.

I'm thinking of joining a gym once I get into the 14s. Can't really afford it at the moment though. :p

Congratulations on the loss so far..

I understand about the gym membership thing only too well.

How about getting an exercise DVD or wii fit (if you have a wii) as a short term solution?

You can jump about in the privacy of your own home until you are comfortable enough (both financially and mentally!) to bare yourself in public..
