Hi all
I've been reading this forum for quite a while and today is my first day on Atkins (well low carb!)
I have tried every diet in the world and cannot loose the 2 stone - I've been trying for years. I did do Atkins before but I for some reason then thought veg was bad and really only ate protein and cheese/eggs so got sick of it after a week! So now my fridge is full of green veg and I'm all set. I hope to be on here quite often and get to know all of you.
Today's menu is
B - 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs
L - ham slices, 1 egg, full fat mayo, lettuce, tomatoe, cheddar cheese
D - Grilled steak, mushroom and french beans with cream and tiny bit dijon mustard for sauce, broccoli and cauliflower (haven't had it yet - hope it tastes good!)
Any advice welcome.

Is it ok to eat stock cubes?
Do you drink all decaff tea and coffee?
Would it be ok to use tiny bit of skimmed milk in decaf tea and coffee. I bought soy milk today (afraid to try it!!)

Welcome LibbyW. I drink just regular coffee with a bit of double cream. For stock, I use Knorr in the pouches it has almost no carbs.

Good luck for this week.

Hiya Libby

Welcome. You'll get lots of great advice here :)

I use stock cubes all the time - but check the carb content, they vary madly!

Also completely hooked on soya milk - but again, watch the carbs - I use Alpro lite.

Welcome & good luck. I use stock cubes, just check the labels. Sorry, I'm no help on the milk, I can't stand the stuff :)

Hi and welcome, milk has gone from my diet completely, use cream in coffee if I fancy it, black otherwise. Decaf only if I am buzzing too much from ordinary coffee, or before I go bed.

hello! welldone on starting a great eating programme, wishing you success!

i drink coffee with milk, its the one thing i've not given up. weight loss is fair to good, 10lbs in 4 weeks, which is good enough for me.
(i fear i am too old for rapid loss, might get wrinkly!)

Hiya Libby. Another Alpro Lite user here - it's fine. I've been on decaf for 9 years - some people find caffeinated stuff triggers carb cravings, but loads of people don't bother switching to decaf when they go low carbing. (Sounds like a countryside activity when you say that) 'I'll go a-low-carbing with you' to the tune of Waltzing Matilda is now stuck in my head. :D

Good luck with the diet this time, and do post loads here, everyone is so helpful. Some of them are a little unhinged though - it will soon become obvious to whom I am referring. ;)

And now 'I've been a low-carber for many a year' to the tune of The Wild Rover.

And I've spent all me money on whiskey NOT beer...

I was drinking last night - I think some might still be in here :p

Wow - thanks for all the great replies.
Well I've only drank decaff so far yesterday and today but am dropping a wee bit of skimmed milk in. Only a tiny drop and am going to try to wean myself off it.
Thanks guys - great to have such help.

Today's menu will be something like this:

B - 2 low carb sausages
L - roasted peppers, garlic and small piece of steak with some salad leaves
D - chicken, almond flour and parmesan thingie I saw on another website - trying to make crispy chicken. (could be a total disaster!) will serve with cauliflower mash.

So chat soon again.
