Hi all!

I'm a newbie here so thought I'd come and say hello. I just joined Slimming World last night. So today is my first day of Food Optimising - guess I need to go shopping!! My first class went ok - weigh in was better than expected! - though was a little nervous as I've never been to any slimming club before or done any kind of commerical diet (I've only ever done straight calorie counting or just ditched 'junk' before). I've not decided on a final target but aiming for around a 2 stone loss.

I'm just going to be sticking to the Green days as I'm vegetarian. Seems like a couple of my favourites recipes can easily be made 'free' with just a few tiny changes, so I might start there whilst I'm still learning what I can have!

Thrilled that fruit is all free as it's not on most diets! Oh and eggs, tofu and some Quorn stuff too - yay!

Thank you for all the lovely replies and welcomes, everyone!!! It's good to have some online support.

I think my main challenge will be getting organised as I generallyl decide what I want to eat from one meal to the next, which would be difficult whilst counting syns and making sure I get my healthy extras etc!

A food diary is a good idea Sarah-Jayne - I have to keep a paper one for class for the first few weeks anyway. Here's what I've had/am having today!

2 weetabix with semiskimmed milk and blueberries (1 HEB and 1 HEA)

4 Ryvitas (1 HEB), two with low fat cottage cheese and two with Dairylea triangles (1 HEA), Quorn 'ham' slices, salad

Snacks and drinks:
3 cups of tea (with remainder of milk allowance from HEA)
Diet coke
1 ginger biscuit (2.5 syns)


Homemade Quorn chilli and rice (all free!)

M&S meringue nest (3 syns) with fresh fruit and Count On Us low fat yoghurt

Total syns: 5.5

I'm sure I'll get more adventurous, but wanted to stick with something simple for day 1!!
