You become a bit specialised doing an English lit degree I suppose. What about Madame De Bovary, The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men? Think I had better stop now as I could go on forever-I have read a lot but it doesn't appear so from this!

I haven't counted but it looks a lot! I was quite proud of myself until my cousin told me she'd read every single one of them!

I did this on Facebook the other day. I think I'd read about 30. As I pointed out, if you've read all the Harry Potter's you are already ahead of what the BBC say!

I'd like to know what it is about the book that murderers find attrcative. I'm confident in my own ability not to kill after reading it.

Of Mice and men I found a great book, yet bizarrely, Steinbeck's other books were not for me. I did it over 30 year ago English Lit. Even saw the original movie (it was re-made) with Lon Chaney and possibly Burgess Meredith, though I may be mistaken on that.

I loved the book despite it being studied to death and di-sected every which way.

I've seen the film and stage play of "Of Mice and Men". Our English teacher would find all the different mediums of books, once we'd read them, and then we'd have to study them too and discuss the differences. Didn't enjoy it at the time, but now I still do the same thing! Won't watch a film, unless I've read the book first! Although, that's not happened with "The Da Vinci Code", thought the film might help me, but it didn't!

Mine would have to be "The Da Vinci Code". Had it bought for me a few years ago and have picked it up 4 or 5 times, but I just can't get into it! Grrrr!! So many people have told me how good it is! Mind you, we have all the books in that series so maybe I should start at the beginning, cos I don't think "TDVC" was the first one? Could be wrong!

35 of them. Not sure if that's good! There's not really any of them on there that I want to read, that I haven't read though so I don't feel I'm missing out!

I really want to read The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas. It was a book that was talked about a lot in the film sleepers and has really wanted to read it. This theard just really remined me so thanks maximus *** goes to amazon to order a copy***

I've still got Life of Pi and The Time Traveller's Wife sitting on my bookshelf unread though!

Time Traveller's Wife is one of my all time favourite books, if not my favourite!! Lent it to a friend and never got it back, so had to buy another copy just because I couldn't stand that it wasn't on my bookshelf. Love love love it. Just don't bother with the film...

I've not read that many, but I've seen most of the films
We did David Copperfield for "0" level (I am that old!) and it put me off Dickens for life! Started Catcher in the Rye and got thro about 2 chapters. I struggled thro Captain Corellis Mandolin and couldn't see what the fuss was about, same with the one about the autistic boy,something to do with a dog. I took War and Peace when I went into hospital, but couldn't remember who anyone was. But oddly enough enjoyed Cancer Ward by Solzhenitsin.
