Owning up!

Hello all

I just ate a 4 finger Kit Kat, and I'm writing about it here as I'm taking accountability for it. It was a conscious decision, because the bloody thing has been in our fridge for about a month and it's been taunting me!

I had a good loss today to celebrate my 7th week on S&S, and this is the first properly naughty thing I have eaten in that time. It was very nice, but I'm not sat here craving more or anything, and I figure with 7 days to next weigh in, I should have enough time to recover.

I just totted up my daily cals and carbs on My Fitness Pal and have had 790 cals and 70g carbs today, so hoping the impact won't be much.

Anyway, thank you for listening to my confession.

Good luck with getting back on track and well done for taking account of it. Next time I find that something is calling to you I suggest that you put it straight in the bin and put washing up liquid over it! That'll stop it calling to you!

I have lots of things I'm doing to maintain the weight loss:

- I have two personal trainers and I work out 4 times a week - normally a gym session, a class and swimming on each day that I work out. I have only been doing this since after I reached goal and have surprised ,yself by actually enjoying it! I even have muscles now even though I've only been doing ot for 4 weeks.

- I have group therapy once a week and since reaching goal I have had personal therapy once a week. This helps me to look at my relationship to food and understand it better and more fully.

- I still come on to weight loss forums to discuss weight loss, as well as helping other people it also keeps me focussed.

- I have some friends who have also been losing weight on a VLCD and I meet up with one or two to have a coffee, do a pilates class or generally socialise.

- My dad and my sister followed me on the VLCD path and they are still losing their weight. I talk to them about maintaining and get advice.

- I have struggled a bit with weight since refeeding and am now about 7 lbs higher than I would like to be. My problem was going from a strict VLCD to being able to having full choice of foods again. I have realised that I need more structure. I am therefore going to follow the Dukan transition phase - which is for after you have lost the weight. It is meant to last for 5 days for each lb that you lost - which is almost 2 years for me. Although at the start I would have been horrified at the thought of following a diet for 2 years after losing the weight it is actually a comfort to me right now.

I now have confidence in my ability to maintain over the next year or two - which is an amazing place to be!

Well done for writing it down and taking accountability for it :)

That's great!!!

I think the physcology route is going to be key to your success. The problem I had when I got to goal was tat I thought I was 'cured' and would never have issues again. I didn't address all of the mental stuff that caused the weight gain in the 1st place. Sounds like you have all angles covered!

I'm trying. I'm pulling out all the stops and doing everything I can think of to help me to succeed. I don't actually feel like I need the personal therapy - but if there's even the tiniest chance that it will help then I'll do it. I don't think I'll ever be 'cured' - but I will try to manage things for the rest of my life. It has taken me a long time to admit that I will need to actively maintain for the rest of my life and to be ok with that.
