local tesco has run out of passata.thinking of liquidizing tin chopped tom to make bbq sauce.Would it work?

Yep. Before I discovered passata I used to have to liquidise my chopped tomatoes for recipes because hubby can't stand lumps of tomato! It works fine, it's perhaps not as tomatoey but other than that you'll barely notice the difference.

I got some Morrisons 500g cartons of passata on offer this week for 25p if you have one near you.

Its the yellow value (Bettabuy?) stuff but honestly I can't tell the difference.

Yep, it's healthier too, because the tomatoes aren't as concentrated. Was horrified today to discover the salt content of passata compared to normal tomatoes.
