i know exactly what you mean. I upgraded last year to cuba,then spent 10 hours sqeezed into a belt ,even worse the tray fitted into the side of the seat. going to mexico this summer with thomson again - no upgrade..
 
Must be different for each person, as I found Ryanair to be the roomiest and i didn't need an extension belt :)
 
I've flew to America at size 28 twice with thomas cook. I did pay for the upgrade and did ask for a extension belt when I board.

Glad to say I was'nt the only one on board the plane using the extra belt.

I'm currently dieting for Sept/Oct this year as I'm planning to go disney again, but I would rather be a size 18/20 than a size 28. Cos its mighty damn hot in america in September.
