How many calories roughly are you on a week with 29 daily and 49 treat points? I am a bit confused as I only have 1st4lb to lose but other people on the same amount have a lot more to lose, also with the old system as you lost weight so your points went down. My leader said if I stick to the points I will lose weight but I don't see how.

Whilst it is true that heavier people will burn more calories, if you are within your points you will still be creating a calorie deficit sufficient for you to lose. The good thing about being on 29 is that you know they cannot go any lower :)
