Progesterone?

Hey everyone,

Specialist today prescribed me a course of progesterone to take - I just wondered if anyone here had taken in for treament of PCOS?

I've been prescribed it to regulate my TOM after going for 6 months with no TOM, but apart from that I don't know if it can help in any other way with other side effects - apart from that it may make my skin problems worse :(

I've been having so many problems with consulting doctors about this subject - most every time I see my GP he says that I 'don't look like someone with PCOS' to which I have to remind him I was diagnosed 9 years ago with it...

On top of that, when I questioned the specialist today about weight-gain and explained that I'd recently lost a lot of weight and was not wanting to regain any, I was told that 'the Pill does not make you gain weight as the pills contain no calories' which I thought was an assinine remark - no duh the pills contain no calories but isn't it common knowledge that people gain weight when they take various forms of the Pill?!?!

So I feel like I can barely rely on their advice, so I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone can has any experiences of progesterone and any and all effects it has!

Hi brownie, I am recently diagnosed PCOS. I just wanted to say as far as weight gain and the pill that absolutely yes that is correct and your doctor should know this. It is also written on the leaflet inside the pill pack when you get it. Almost sounds like you need a new GP. GL Hun :)

sorry ive only just seen this post. i have been prescribed progesterone before for PCOs, but as i wasnt dieting at the time i dont know if i gained any weight.

as for the pill. i have to whole heartedly say i havnt put on a signal pound whilst being on the pill. i have been on cilest, mycrogynon, and im now on trinovum and i have maintained really well, or put on a little water weight but thats thats it, then it goes again after my AF. xx
