    hi everyone,

    i lost 26lbs doing LL and will like to start the atkins diet in 2weeks as i will be stopping LL, can anyone pls explain how the atkins diet work cos i have no idea:confused:

    I would advise you to go and buy the atkins book, there is a lot of information to get to grips with and the book will be a valuable resource.

    I would also check out Atkins - Phase One as this is the stage you would be starting at and also
    Atkins - Acceptable Foods

    Have a look at the sticky's at the top of the page too, and please do beg/borrow/buy a copy of the book, If you are going to do this you have to do it right. Check charity shops/ebay and amazon for cheap copies.

    I have just started Atkins (with the odd CD to get rid of them) and cant really believe what I can eat on Atkins, but then I can never believe I will stick to a diet so Im just going to do it and not obsess too much, I say buy the book, mine is a bit out of date (1972!) but reading everything on here really helps, good luck - you can do it!

    prosecco the principles are the same still but i think the new plan allows more salad/ veg per day... look at the stickys for more info.

    vickiabd it basically works on the same principles as ll/cd. as you are limiting carbs you are still in ketosis. the body prefers carbs as the main source of energy, take them away and the body will use its own fat stores (in short...).

    so 20g carbs a day inc veg/salad for the induction phase (min 2 weeks) and then increase carb allowance gradually... etc etc etc.

    ketosis means you wont be hungry and you still need to drink lots of water to help the body metabolise the fat (as per ll/cd).
