Just as a matter of interest, anyone doing the Race for Life this year or any other race?

As a motivational goal I planned from last year to do the Adidas Women's Challenge (Sept 2009). Now that I have found out that women from work will be doing the Race for Life in July I think I'll do that also.

I don't expect to be running in the Race for Life as I'll probably still be on the diet. I'll just walk it round. However, I plan to be running in the Adidas Women's Challenge and hope to come in under 45mins. Past 5k efforts have always been 50-65mins.

Running is just one more reason to stick with the diet.:):):):):):)

Hi F2W, I did the Race For Life last year and managed to part walk part run it in 42 mins. This year I plan to run the 5k and I may have a go at the 10k (I will be doing it in Telford in July). I reckon you could run it! Go on give it a go. I am doing a bit of running in the gym, only 10-15 minutes at a time at the moment and hope to add a minute or two each time I train. You sort of get carried along with all the other ladies running so it seems much easier some how!

I hadn't heard of the addidas run but I'll look it up on the net and may have a go at that too. It's great to have goals to keep you focused. I hate exercise but loooooove the feeling of getting fitter. Helps with the inch loss too! Good luck!

I've signed up for Race for Life, and am intending to run it.

Am taking it very easy training wise whilst on CD, and breaking it into little and often. Not overdoing it.

The way I see it, if I can do 48 hour weeks inside 4 days whilst on wards, I can do some light training.

I won't be doing it this year, but it's certainly a thought for next. Depends on how I find my feet/legs are when I've lost my weight. Since I've been overweight I can't walk very far, let alone run and I've had pains in my feet. Not lost enough yet to notice a huge difference, but perhaps in another year I'll have much more energy to be able to do it.

Thanks for the encouragement.:):):):):)

It makes me wonder if I am more up to it then I think. Come July's Race for Life I will be on SS+ and moving up the CD steps. So fuel shouldn't be a problem.

My current fitness? I go to the gym twice a week and at weekends I walk 5k. I've started to do a little running and I feel pretty okay afterwards.

I'm thinking that maybe it's not overambitious to run in the Race for Life after all. Who says I have to run all the way?:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks:D:D:D:D:D
