RachelS - Its been a long time!

#1
Started WW last week after years of dieting that have seen me try various diets inc CD and LL, all of which have worked but sadly I never stuck to them. I've always gone for what I considered to be a quick fix as the thought of losing half my bodyweight is very daunting, but after spending nearly 16yrs trying and failing to maintain a significant loss, I've accepted the fact I'm in it for the longhaul!
So..... 1st loss is 5lbs and for some reason I wasn't impressed by this! Why oh why cos realistically, its a good un?

Hi Rachel, welcome to WW forum Even though I did do a VLCD before WW, I think you are doing the right thing on losing slowly and steadily.

Good luck with your journey - are you going to sort out a ticker and some mini goals - they are great to keep you motivated and on track.

There's loads of support on here and it becomes really quite addictive.

Hi Rosie, thanks! I love Minimins and found it a great help on previous forays into dietdom! I know I have to do this slowly as I need to retrain my brain if you know what I mean? I found the weightloss with VLCD's great but once I had cheated once then that was it. I do need food and need to eat healthily, not just the content and quality but also mentally!

I'll sort out a ticker and mini goals in my lunchbreak cos I swear my boss is wondering why Im typing furtively!!

good luck with WW Rachel - i'm in the same boat - tried all sorts of crash diets that worked short term but i never stuck to. I've done WW before and know it works so this time going for gold :) great thing about this is that it very rarely feels like a diet.

everyone here is lovely so you'll have no problem if you need help and support xxx

Thanks for that! Ive done it too and I know that it works, I didnt go before because I was daunted by going on my own, you know, walking into a room full of folk when you feel like c**p!! But I've had enough and just thought, 'to hell with it'!!
Im doing this for me this time, no one else and as mean as it sounds, not even for my girls. I have to do it for me otherwise it just wont work if you know what I mean?

So far, a week in, its not been a hardship at all, we have our work do on Sat nite but Ive already looked at the menu and sussed out the healthy low fat food!!

Aw thanks Gem, nice to know Im not the only one to have tried VLCD's and come off them, they do work but I just couldnt afford to keep at it as well as the fact I cheated!
Its refreshing to not feel guilty about eating, something that was always with me!
I've just had my lunch and am stuffed! I had a cheese roll and soup, my big meal for the day and all I want to do is sleep, not good at work tho!!

How are you doing?;)

I hate how when I get wound up, I immediately think, 'right, Im going to eat junk...' I hate it hate it hate it!!!
Im going to try my best to ignore it and just have some fruit instead but when I've felt like this before, I've always eaten rubbish anyway.

Please god that I can resist it today?

Hello and welcome!! I am sorry to hear that you were a bit disappointed with 5lb loss. I think that it is great. You will not get such dramatic weight loses with Weight watchers but (for me anyway) its changed how I look at food and has forced me to changed my lifestyle. I think you are 10 billion times more likely to keep the weight off with Weight Watchers too. I tried CD and lasted a day...then got a big bag of chicken balls and chips and curry sauce... that was a good day now I think about it! lol
Anyway, main point of this babble was GOOD LUCK and WELL DONE on 5lb!

hope you managed to resist eating rubbish - i've failed today at that, but drawn a line and back at it now :D xxx

Hi Jen, I was the same with CD laterly and with LL, I lost nearly 5st with LL but once Id cheated, that was it, I couldnt get back into it. Im finding it a lot easier on WW so far, not that I want to tempt fate!!
I know the 5lb loss is good, believe me, just felt a bit of an anti-climax on the day for some weird reason. I suppose its cos 5lb is a very small dent in what I have to lose, but at least its made an mpression eh?!!
How are you doing anyway?:p

I'm in it for the long haul too! Add me to the 'Tried-CD-But-Couldnt Club'. I have 7 stone to go .

And 5lbs is blemmin brilliant! Maybe its a pyschological thing - i sometimes get a big loss and think well hold on, i have 7 stone to lose, i should be losing more than that and it should be coming off quicker!! But honestly, we will get there. :)
