Scales ~ what do they say?

*waves hello*
I am having a little difficulty saying what my scales tell me.

I weigh in on a Sunday ~ step on the scales other days but only take real notice of the Sunday weigh in.

Well yesterday I steped on the scales and found that I was one pound down ~ 13st excact. Then I repositioned the scales about two inches further from the wall and it said 12 st 6lb. Well thats a lot of difference.

Today I weighed myself ~ near the wall it said 13 st 4lb and away from the wall 12st 10lb.

So which set of figures (from Sunday) should I go with???? I can't beleive I put on 4 pounds in a day ~ got even me could do that .... so its Sunday.

Part of me says I need a boost so will go for the lower figure and always weigh myself in that spot from now on in.... but part of me says I am just fooling myself.

What would you do?

Come on.... be honest.... I won't tell.

If your scales are always in the spot which registers the higher amount then stick with that. Counting the lower one isnt a true loss if its a new spot. You could drive yourself nuts moving your scales around the house every week looking for a nother 'low' spot.

Stick with your usual spot - you KNOW it makes sense ;)

I feel your pain Judith, my scales are notoriously faddy and as I dont have somewhere I can keep them in one place, I never really trust them to be entirely accurate. Would it be worth popping to Boots wearing your lightest clothes and getting weighed there, and then weighing your clothes at home, (assuming you usually weigh in the nuddy) and deducting them from the total, and then finding the spot that is closest to the Boots weigh total?

Alternatively, chuck them out, and go to Boots once a week. :D

I would personally get new scales.

I get weighed at group- but I usually have a sneak peek on the Wii Fit twice a week, but I don't take much notice- even though they're pretty accurate (if it says a weight on the wii on tuesday morning- i tend to weigh the same at official weigh in in the evening)

But yeah- I would get some scales that were a bit more accurate. and keep the scales in exactly the same place (maybe using a tile or something to keep it in the same place- or even stick them down if you can :)

Oh- or you could get weighed at somewhere like Boots or at a local sports centre (our local pool has a big set of scales (and bmi calculator thingy with it)

My scales tell me a different weight every time I step on them. It's like a compulsion to do so. But I pay it no mind. The only WI that matters is on Tuesday in group! :D

Mine seem to have started playing up as well! Got on them this morning (my usual Monday morning pre-weigh to prepare myself before group and official weigh in this evening!)and they told me one weight, which I thought was a bit high, so tried them again - 3lbs down that time. So tried another 2 times and the lower weight each time. I always put them on the same tile on the bathroom floor as well, grrr... stupid things!

Perhaps they need new batteries?

I'd recommend you ditch your scales, and go to boots once a week and get weighed. That way, none of this moving them around rubbish, plus its stops you weighing between proper weigh ins

I found a place in my house where the scales seem to be accurate. When I was doing WW my result at WI was always what I got at home, so I trust them, but if I move them around the house the result can go down to about 8 stone lol. If you can't find a good place for them where they remain accurate, or they're just broken, I would stop using them. Boots is a great place to weigh in as everyone has suggested. Some big supermarkets have scales too, if you can't get to Boots every week!

I have the WW scales they were 25 quid but are so accurate I can get on and off and move them round the house and they tell me exactly the same weight each time. They also do bmi, bone percentage, fat percentage and water percentage.
I've always brought cheap ones before but these are fab. They also weigh me the same as the SW ones :)

To check your scales are accurate, and which 'spot' on the bathroom floor is the right one (lol) why not weigh something like bags of sugar or bottles of water that you know weigh x ammount and check the accuracy! I weigh water (1 litre is 1kg) to check my scales are telling me the correct weight xx
