Hi,
I have seen a few posts about Scan bran so bought some last week. Don't really know what to do with it!! Any ideas??? I'm having a few difficult weeks and need to kick start my weight loss again!!!

Thanks

ScanBran is very - well, branny I suppose is the word! They are quite hard so they need something soft to go with them. I actually like them with cottage cheese - the two textures seem to go quite well together.

You can have five as a HEX B - but I would find it very difficult to get through five of them at one sitting. There's an awful lot of chewing in them! And you might want to have one or two and see how your digestive system reacts before going for the full five.

Alternatively, there are lots of recipes using ScanBran which you will find in the recipe section. You can make quite nice cakes with it, which are very filling and great for when you just need something sweet. And there are recipes on the Slimming World website.

Other ideas: Stitch them together and make a nice new doormat? Got any shoes that need new soles? Or a hole in the roof?

(Sorry - I know it was a serious enquiry, just couldn't resist!)

I always have a scan bran cake made - it saves my diet on many ocassions. I also like them with sliced banana or LC light triangles and marmite.

I should also have said that consultants often say that members who have ScanBran regularly do have bigger weightlosses.
I can think of something else they have regularly that's bigger too! :D

Personally, I would put them in the bin- they are depressing 'diet' food that makes me sad. There is too much nice (free) food in the world to eat a scan bran

I love making parkin with mine!

2 HEX Bs & 2 Syns for whole thing OR
9.5 syns for whole thing

5 scan bran
28g oats
1 tbsp treacle

Soak the scan bran in boiling water for 1 min. Drain and add all the ingredients apart from eggs. Mix well. Add eggs and mix well again. Pour in small tin and bake for 20-25 mins at 180.

A few nice recipes with Scan Bran:

Microwave on high for 7 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the

For a free topping, pile with (defrosted) frozen forest fruits or top with
chocolate spread (4½ Syns per tbsp).

LOL CP!

I actually have a packet, Lord knows why I bought it! I'll make them into something! As a crispbread they are rather like sandpaper!I have previously suggested putting them round your favourite plants to deter snails.

LOL Judi!
They are awful on their own... YUK!
I also made Christmas mince pies from a recipe that's somewhere here and they were yum, though not really pies as there is no pastry.
One girl brought some to a taster spread with peanut butter and banana on top.
Was ok, but I rather save my syns for something more tasty!

This ginger cake is very nice - it is ten and a half syns for the whole cake, but it is very filling and very sweet, so a little goes a long way.

5 scan bran
2 level tbsp black treacle
2 level tbsp golden syrup
3-4 level tbsp Splenda (or similar free granulated sweetener)
2 beaten eggs
2 tsp ground ginger

Break up the scan bran and soak in warm water until soft. Mash with a fork, breaking down any big lumps.
Combine the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Combine the egg mixture with the scan bran and mix well.
Place in a microwavable dish and cook for approximately 3-4 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!! Am about to sit down and plan my weekly menu.............I haven't done this for the last couple of weeks, and my diet has definitely suffered because of it!!! Whoops!!!! I have heard it tastes like cardboard!! But if it helps then I'm happy to give it a go!!!
