ScanBran is very - well, branny I suppose is the word! They are quite hard so they need something soft to go with them. I actually like them with cottage cheese - the two textures seem to go quite well together.

You can have five as a HEX B - but I would find it very difficult to get through five of them at one sitting. There's an awful lot of chewing in them! And you might want to have one or two and see how your digestive system reacts before going for the full five.

Alternatively, there are lots of recipes using ScanBran which you will find in the recipe section. You can make quite nice cakes with it, which are very filling and great for when you just need something sweet. And there are recipes on the Slimming World website.

Other ideas: Stitch them together and make a nice new doormat? Got any shoes that need new soles? Or a hole in the roof?

(Sorry - I know it was a serious enquiry, just couldn't resist!)

I should also have said that consultants often say that members who have ScanBran regularly do have bigger weightlosses.

I always have a scan bran cake made - it saves my diet on many ocassions. I also like them with sliced banana or LC light triangles and marmite.

I can think of something else they have regularly that's bigger too! :D

Personally, I would put them in the bin- they are depressing 'diet' food that makes me sad. There is too much nice (free) food in the world to eat a scan bran

A few nice recipes with Scan Bran:

    Low-Syn chocolate cake
Syns: 9 Syns for the whole cake

    You will need:
    5 Scan Bran
    3 beaten eggs
    1 level tbsp golden syrup
    1oz cocoa powder
    ½ mug sweetener

Soak the Scan Bran in boiling
water to soften. Then drain and
    mash.

Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a microwavable bowl.
Microwave on high for 7 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the
touch and will have pulled away from the side.
For a free topping, pile with (defrosted) frozen forest fruits or top with
chocolate spread (4½ Syns per tbsp).

    Scan Bran carrot cake
Syns: 12 Syns for the whole cake

    You will need:
    4 Scan Bran, crushed
    1 Weetabix, crushed
    5oz grated carrot
    ½ teaspoon nutmeg
    1 level tbsp runny honey
    2 level tbsp mincemeat
    3 beaten eggs
    For the topping:
1 pot quark skimmed milk soft cheese
    Lemon juice
    Sweetener to taste
    Method:

Preheat oven to Gas Mark 4/180°C.
    Mix all the ingredients together.
Transfer the mix into a baking tin lined with non-stick baking parchment and
    bake for 1 hour.
When cooked turn onto a wire rack to cool.
For the topping mix the quark with lemon juice and sweetener to taste and
spread onto the cake once cooled.

    Onion bhajis
Syns: 2½ Syns for all the bhajis on Green or Extra Easy, 10½ Syns on Original

    1 large (8oz/227g) potato
    1 large onion
    2 cloves garlic
    3 tbsp curry powder
    1 tsp turmeric
    Fry Light

    Method:
1 Crumble the Scan Bran until it resembles breadcrumbs.
2 Add the water and egg and soak for 10 minutes.
3 Peel and grate the potato and peel and chop the onions and garlic.
4 Mix with the Scan Bran mixture.
5 Add the curry powder, turmeric & seasoning.
    6 Shape into bhajis.
7 Fry in Fry Light until cooked.

    Scan Bran Scotch eggs
Syns per Scotch egg: 1 Syn on
Original & Extra Easy, 6 Syns on Green

Syns per half Scotch egg: ½ Syn on
Original & Extra Easy, 3 Syns on Green
    You will need:
    5 hard boiled eggs
8 pack Morrisons Eat Smart Less Than
    3% Fat Pork Sausages
½ oz/14g flour to dust hands only
    3 eggs, beaten
    2 Scan Bran, crushed

    Method:
Hard boil 5 eggs. Cool in running water, then take off the shells.
Skin the sausages, cut through skin lengthways and take out the meat.
Using a little of the flour to dust hands, take 1½ sausages and roll into a ball.
Then press out to 4½” diameter.
Place a boiled egg in the centre and form the meat around the egg to cover it
    completely.
Repeat until all 5 are covered.
Beat the 3 eggs in a basin for the coating.
Dip the meat-covered eggs into the beaten eggs and then into the crushed
    Scan Bran.
Place on a baking tray, spray the scotch eggs with Fry Light and cook in the

    LOL CP!

I actually have a packet, Lord knows why I bought it! I'll make them into something! As a crispbread they are rather like sandpaper!I have previously suggested putting them round your favourite plants to deter snails.

    LOL Judi!
They are awful on their own... YUK!
I also made Christmas mince pies from a recipe that's somewhere here and they were yum, though not really pies as there is no pastry.
One girl brought some to a taster spread with peanut butter and banana on top.
Was ok, but I rather save my syns for something more tasty!

This ginger cake is very nice - it is ten and a half syns for the whole cake, but it is very filling and very sweet, so a little goes a long way.

    5 scan bran
    2 level tbsp black treacle
    2 level tbsp golden syrup
3-4 level tbsp Splenda (or similar free granulated sweetener)
    2 beaten eggs
    2 tsp ground ginger

Break up the scan bran and soak in warm water until soft. Mash with a fork, breaking down any big lumps.
Combine the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Combine the egg mixture with the scan bran and mix well.
Place in a microwavable dish and cook for approximately 3-4 minutes.
    Serve hot or cold.
