Scared to lose weight.

Hi CD dieters

This is my first posting and one that may surprise some people out there....

I have tried many diets in the past, but all with no real long term success.

After 1 week on the CD I have discovered something very worrying about myself - I am actually scared to lose weight, (I have already tried to sabotege my most recent efforts). :break_diet:

I do want to lose weight (I buy clothes in size 14 in spite of currently being size 18/20) but something keeps stopping me.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience? How have you dealt with it?

Nicki

I understand that totally. I tend to use mine as a block to the outside world, I think. Some tend to feel like its a buffer. I tend to remain in the same size clothes for a while, but I jack my waist in with a belt or take the waist in a bit. I'll do this until I am ready mentally to shop for smaller things. I want to stablise everything before I go on a clothing splurge :)

Hiya Nicki

OK in this case I would be looking for

1. What is the benefit of staying big?
2. What is the benefit of NOT being slim?

Have a read of this Beneficial Intent

There is a benefit in everything you do and hence if you can understand why you are scared then you can do something about it.

Mike

When you understand the beneficial intent

Thanks for replying Snowbaby.

I have no problem buying smaller clothes - just losing the weight to fit into them :-(

Need to find a way to get over my fear...
