Seeing Counsellor Tomorrow

I have finally made an appointment to see my local CD counsellor tomorrow morning and am very excited. However, I am a bit worried about which step I will be able to do as my doctors surgery will not sign paperwork for VLC diets......I know this as i was doing LL a few months ago and had to pay for a private doctor to sign my forms:mad:.
My BP is 51 and i have type two diabetes although i do not take medication for it. Does anyone have any ideas, would i be able to do ss+ without seeing my gp or will i have to do the next step?

Not 100% sure, but think you need doctors signature if you are contraindicated, and I'm sure your diabetes means you are. It is tough diet, and I'd take care. Why not see if you can do 1000 or 810 and see how you get on? By the way, I dont think the private doctor did you any favours by signing for a VLCD .....dont mean to sound down on your efforts, I just think we should look after ourselves. Tx

if your BMI is over 40 then yes you will need a doctors signature, otherwise you will need to do a higher plan until you are below BMI 40 but as you have type 2 diabetes you need to check with a CDC to see which plan you can do

Thanks for the replies guys, i will let you know what she says.

hey - you will need GP support....

here's what the CD WebSite says...

"Nobody with diabetes should attempt to lose weight without being supervised by his or her doctor. The Cambridge Diet programmes are not usually used for patients with type 1 diabetes (insulin requiring) or type 2 diabetes (usually treated with diet and/or oral drugs) when they require insulin, except in specialist units with tight supervision. The customer must have the
full agreement off their doctor or health care
professional to say that they are willing to adjust medication and monitor the customer throughout the weight loss process. Again, adopting the maintenance programme is a good long-term health strategy"

Hmmm, you were all right.....I cannot do any of the sole source, 800 or indeed 1000 without seeing gp first:cry: I have got two packs a day and am doing the 1200 to start off with which I am disappointed about to be honest, but at least it is a start. I am going to my doctors on Monday and if he wont sign I guess my only alternative is to change surgeries.
I would understand if he was unwilling to sign due to contraindications but it is not that at all, they just will not sign....not for anyone as they don't believe in VLCDs!! It seems ridiculous, I know that my diabetes was only affected in a positive way and also my bp which did have a tendency to be slightly on the high side, dropped to very average levels within two weeks of starting!

On the bright side my counsellor is really lovely and hopefully I will get on ok with the diet with the support of the people on this brilliant site.
