Hey chaps,

I did CD last year and went from 15 stone to 12 and a halfish, when I fell off the wagon spectacularly and never managed to climb back on (i did attempt it many times) and in the end decided that it just wasnt worth putting myself thru anymore. So i stopped dieting and at christmas was weighing in at 14.2!!

I have been calorie counting and did WW for a bit (didnt rly lose much on that) and have now got down to about 13st 5ish (altho its TOTM at the moment and have gone back up to 13.7, which i am hoping is the reason!) but am fed up of losing only 4/5lbs a month when it is affecting my whole life with everything i eat.

Dont get me wrong I love that i am losing AND being able to have a life (i found losing out on the social side of things was the hardest part of CD first time around) but am starting to think that even if I only managed 6 out of 7 days SSing my losses would still be MUCH better than they are right now. I have a couple of nights out on the horizon but i could easily just drink vodka and diet coke, and the couple of meals I could just have no carbs so white meat and salad/veg and get round it that way.

Thing is I need some MAJOR encouragement if I am going to do this again, I will have to ask OH to gather up all my food (especially crisps and choccies, and my easter egg!) and save it for when I can eat normally again....

I just need some words of wisdom from you guys- encouragement, criticism, whatever you want to throw at me, im open to it all!!

Hi wannabslim,

Seeing how you have a hectic social life ahead of you, for what it is worth...I think if you stick with WW until Easter is over and start afresh then on CD.

Get all temptation out of the way and have your environment ready for doing CD. Preparation is key.

Love Mini xxx

Hey hun, thanks for your comments! I dont really have a hectic social life... a couple of nights out in the space of 6 weeks or so doesnt even compare to how things were this time last year! Have told OH to put all my long-dated foods in a bag in a cupboard and they will still be there when I am finished! xxx

Hi, I spent 20 years trying to lose weight and I tried most things in that time. I was pretty desperate when I got to CD, it was the last stop before surgery.

I think CD only works if you want this more than anything else and only you know where you are. If you are at the 'want to lose weight but still want to have a life and are going to feel like you're depriving yourself of life' then 5lbs a months is 60lbs by Christmas. The fast CD results come at a price that is quite high.

The other thing is and I hope this comes across right, but the stuff you're asking your husband to keep until you eat 'normally' is interesting. None of us got overweight eating well and looking after ourselves.

If you lose either on CD or WW and go back to what used to be normal then the weight will go back to what was normal too - I am beginning to realise as I try to maintain that I can't go back to eating as I did and I really want to.

Good luck - it isn't easy but you can do it!

For a lot of people CD is the one thing that really works for them, am not heavy enough to be considering surgery but I am really unhappy with my figure at the moment and I want to be healthy, and I see CD as a way of achieving this

the thing is tho at the moment i dont have much of a life as i am working all the time and dont have time to go out really so its probably the best time to do it!

on a calorie controlled diet you can have these things in moderation, as I have been doing- I know what led to me putting on weight, it was drinking too much alcohol at university! My bf is just making sure that the things i have in the cupboards are kept out of sight- for me calorie counting is the norm now, i have gotten out of the bad habits, I am just fed up and miserable about how slow my losses are... I dont want to wait til Christmas, I want to be slim for summer!

Like I said I am quite happy cal counting as a way of normality now

Good luck - it isn't easy but you can do it!
Thanks hun, having done this before I know its blimmin hard but I think desperate times call for desperate measures!

Hey Nikki, I think if you are back here thinking about it having spent time on WW and calorie counting that maybe it might click for you. I've still got 3 weeks supply in my cupboard and am thinking of starting tomorrow. I spent £50 on hypnosis last week and I have lost 3lb, my urgency for food has disappeared so think this will be a good time for me to give it my all. Let me know what you decide and we can maybe help each other along.

thanks hun! i have decided to go for it! as its totm and feeling ill at the moment i have decided to start today as then the crappy pre-ketosis feeling will just be mixed up with everything else!! Strangely enough that is how it was the first time around as well, so Im hoping it will work. Having said that, altho I am starting today I had brekkie (as didnt know this morning that i would be starting today!) which was scrambled egg on toast and I have had a pint of CD jelly made with the food flavourings. Obviously the scrambled egg isn't part of the plan but I'm thinking if I have a mousse or something before bed and plenty of water then hopefully I will start "Day 1" tomorrow much closer to ketosis and not feeling so rubbish!

Would love to do this with you minime :) i find having a "buddy" really useful and sounds to me like we are in a similar place... I know what you mean about the urgency, I feel like my eating habits are now under control its just that the losses are so slight eating "properly" so in terms of my mental state I do think that now is a good time to do this, if ever!

Are you coming to the Brum meet hun? xxx

Thanks hun I just checked it out and I actually remember reading that when he wrote it last year! Its so true! For me last time it was a prison but I was a voluntary prisoner!! This time I believe that I am NOT a prisoner- this is a CHOICE and i am fully prepared to make a few sacrifices to get to where I want to be. So thanks for reminding me of that, it has made me feel much better and reassured me that I am doing this for the right reasons!!

Hey Nikki

I never managed to get started so have decided rather than try and fail over the long weekend when hubby and kids are off I'm going to start on Tuesday. Hope your first few days have gone well.

ahh that sounds fair enough hun- no point setting yourself up to fail and you have to be convinced in your own mind that u can do it, so i guess if u dont think u could get through the weekend its probably best to wait. I have to say im not really looking forward to it- my first weekend on CD too- but hey, if I stick with it I will be finished before the May bank hol :) xx

Good luck - this diet is harder 2nd time around ... but the results are still the same! Being harder i think it means we are less like to fail again as we don't want to go back to the start again - does that make sense???

I'm doing 790/SS depending on how i feel and this weekend where we are away, I'll 790. I'm 13.6 now, but like you was 15st .... now i want to get down to 10st - so lots of work to do.

Have a good weekend - hope your OH has hidden the Easter eggs!!!

Oooh hey everyone :) i have a diary thread if anyone is vaguely interested?! lol! I am doing well, end of day 5 now and feeling ok although a bit headachey- that may be down to lack of water tho, I have only gone through about 1.5l so far today as have been at uni, and even then have been nipping to the loo every hour!! :D was 12st 13lbs (7lbs down) this morning so am hoping for another by tomorrow to make 8- I reckon I will probs lose about 10 for week 1, which strangely is the same as I lost when I did this first time around even tho I was about a stone and a half heavier that time! Bev, after I fell off last year I could NOT get back on for love nor money but I think because I have waited 6 months to try again, it is more like the first time in the way that I am feeling- its not hard cos of the excitement, the wanting to stick to it 100% and not nibbling on anything at all :) its great! xxx
