Started At Last - John_T's Tale

Thanks purple and sunshine :)

I came off the rails on my trip :D whilst I did avoid food carbohydrates most of the time the beer and wine got me, and the steaks, and the fish, and the general bonhomie of my various business contacts.

4lb could have been worse I suppose and I suspect it will go quickly, I have another trip in a week's time .... must try harder although this one won't be as social!!

The weight I picked up on my trip has dropped off me, must have been glycogen and fluid I suppose?? I am now back to my pre-trip weight and the only downside I suppose is that it will take me a couple of weeks longer to reach my goal weight. :)

Another 2 week business trip is about to start! I know I have to earn a living but it really is irritating the way it affects my weight loss. Good excuse not to drink on this trip as I am on antibiotics for an ear infection :D

Well I am back after another business trip, I was away for a month and ate and drank I tried to avoid carbs but the booze :(

I am not going to weigh myself for a week :D

Well I bit the bullet and stepped on the scales this morning. With some relief I saw there was a small weight loss despite the one month gap and the extended business trip :)

With luck I should hit the 231lb milestone by the end of the year

seems like youve found a balance with ensuring the little pleasures in life (a drink or two/a dessert etc ... that always seem to be involved with socialising) don't have an impact with your weight loss. i've enjoyed your diary so far, im just starting out and your determination shows that it can be done if you want it enough. keep it up!

Thanks Sophie :)

Well I have come through a difficult period, some 6 weeks of overseas business trips plus Christmas and New Year. Whilst my weight loss has stalled I managed to maintain 235lb. I have three weeks or so before my next business trip (only about a week in duration hopefully) so anticipate I will hit my next target of 231lb before I go :)

I still have another 40lb or so to go before I reach my target. My family think this will be too much and that 20lb is realistic; we will see when we get there.

I paid my doctor a visit last week with chest and ear infections so it gave me a good opportunity to have a natter about my weight loss. In short she is delighted and as an added bonus my cholesterol is down to 4.2 from 5.8.

Well done john.
Maintaining is excellent over this period.
Bet you came out the docs with a spring in your step:D

Can you see the end in sight yet?

I can't imagine ever seeing it but i know i will lol.

I have reached my 231lb milestone, this was my weight in 1999; I feel elated yet annoyed I allowed myself to pick up the weight in the first place!

It is good to be back on my diet after overseas trips, Christmas and New Year halting my progress. Two weeks in and a loss of two and a half pounds a week, a nice sustainable rate.

Clothes! An expensive side effect of the diet is having to constantly buy new clothes, everything from T-shirts to suits and it is not over yet. I am on first name terms with the lady who runs my local charity shop with all the stuff I have taken there the last six months!

The positive side of buying new clothes is being able to buy things I haven't been able to buy (or in all conscience wear) for years; Levi jeans for example. Also there is so much more choice now I have dropped several sizes, chest has fallen from 50" to 44" and waist from 44" to 38" so a couple of inches to go on my chest and about 4 inches on my waist.

If I can keep this up I will be below BMI 30 in about three months time.

Another steady week and another 3lb gone, I feel really comfortable at this rate and it does allow me to have the occasional "normal" meal.

The Weight to Go diet really does work and as yet I haven't got bored with the food packets. They have also made it easier to order the seperate items. What I like about the diet is that I can have some fruit in the morning for breakfast and a good serving of vegetables (avoiding beans of any sort and potatoes) with the main meal.

I am away next week on business, which always stalls the weight loss but I have accepted this; what's another week on the road to my target?

Back from my trip the same weight as I went ... result :) Went easy on the booze and avoided carbs as best as I could. Back on the regime.

I added another target; 222lb or a 70lb / 5 stones loss. I can't remember exactly when I was last that weight, 1990 perhaps? Thought it would be a good milestone.

I have just eaten a Weight to Go Chilli Con Carne with half a Savoy cabbage yum yum. I added a bit of vinegar and Peri-Peri sauce to the chilli just to pep it up a bit. I could eat this combination every day :D

Another week gone another 2lb lost. I like the 2lb a week rate rather than the 3lb a week rate; OK it will take a bit longer but I find as I am getting closer to my goal my body seems to need a bit extra fuel.

Only 1.5lb lost this week which I suppose compensates for the better than average 3lb last week. I have been ... ahem .. a little "irregular" this week so have upped the fibre and water intake!

Getting the hang of Ebay, I sold four shirts, two coats, jacket, two suits and three rugby shirts which were too large for me , at least it goes some way to pay for all the clothes I have had to buy.

I have lost 5 stones :bliss:

Back from an extended trip overseas and back on the regime, managed to maintain my weight at least although it has put me back a month.
