Sugar snap peas

Random question, why are sugar snap peas are superfree but regular peas are not? I was just wondering.

probaly somthing to do with the sugar snap being younger and the sugars in them are not as great as in peas? maybe !

Just guessing, but it might be because you eat the pods as well as the peas. The pods are probably high fibre.

A combination of the above answers - more fibre, less sugar/starch

Yep, I agree that the pea in the sugar snap pea hasn't fully developed into a proper little pea, hence doesn't have as much sugar in them.

also try shelling sugar snap peas . . . you would be there a lifetime to get a couple of tablespoons of peas

I used them in the garlic chicken one-pot receipe that was in January's magazine, sooooo nice!
