Susie's 2022 campaign

You can do it susie! I gave up smoking 12 years ago. I used to smoke 20 a day unless I was drinking then it would be over 40😱 I would of switched to vaping if I still smoked now.

I love your attitude, no drama, it’s the best way to be. If you stress about it it makes it much harder to get back on track x

Thanks love, I say "no drama" now but when I get on the scales on Thursday the whole country will hear the screams of anguish :D. But the cupboards are nearly clear of bad stuff, just two packets of biscuits which I'll take to work for the young 'uns who are really annoying and eat everything in sight :classic_roll_eyes:.

Still feeling really tired after Saturday's excesses, so it will be an early night for me and the furbs. They want to go outside but it's raining, so they will have to wait. It's being a real wash out of a summer!

All sounds like you are getting your focus back! It's been a rollercoaster for you these last few months, now you're moved and settling in it should be easier to get back on track. No reason why you can't lose that 5st and stop smoking!

You are doing the right things, getting the house settled, settling inro work and the SW group.
Do you have somewhere decent at work to eat or do most go out for lunch?

Yes thanks Tipp we've got a lovely area with a well equipped kitchen and a few tables (and a pool table!) but I prefer to sit at my desk and catch up with personal emails and so on. We're in a business park and everyone drives, so if I go out at lunch I'll lose the car spot - I was a bit late today and am out on the road.

And ewww what a horrible day it is out there, stormy, rainy and cold but also weirdly humid!

B - brown bread with cheese and ham, coffee
L - chicken and salad with skinny caesar dressing
D - chilli sausages and green salad

Sxx

I’d be on that pool table at lunch😃

Menu sounds nice today Susie. Have a good day x

Hey Susie, pleased to see you are settling in to your new life up north! Best of luck as SW this week, you know it will come off no matter what the damage is.

Thanks guys - well I've decided to do something quite unusual for me and do a course of "wellbeing" hypnotherapy :). Always wanted to try it and see if it will help with my food addiction/bingeing etc - and the bonus is that it's held at a local posh spa. it's four sessions of 60 minutes each and I'll probably start next Thursday, but that means putting actually going to SW group off. I would really like to see how the hypno helps - if at all - on its own, but will start following SW more rigorously anyway.

Anyone else try something like this?

I haven’t but my friend has. It was a quite a few years ago now but she said it helped how she thought of food and she lost some weight x

That's good to know Charlotte, thanks.

Right, I've made a decision :classic_eek:. I've got a big SW-focused shop arriving Friday so am going to do SW from home from Saturday for a few weeks and see how I get on, in combo with the hypnotherapy.

All this afternoon and evening I've been dillydallying about maybe trying low carb again, or clean eating - but then I recognised that this was my usual evasion tactic, so it's time for the big girl pants and to remember that SW worked really well for me, especially when I STUCK TO IT :D :D.

Morning all

Another rainy day in Paradise :classic_roll_eyes: but feeling quite chipper after a weird, dream filled sleep.

Going to make the hypno appointment today. Chatted with a friend who has done something similar and she said it really helped her with food behaviour - which is what I want to be able to control, to eat like a slim person, not binge or keep eating when I'm full. If I don't resolve this stuff I'll lose Ok, then put back on, that old familiar cycle. So I'm seeing it as an investment in my health future - but also i want to check out Seaham Hall, the posh spa where it's held :D.

B - brown bread, cheese and ham, coffee
L - chicken and salad, yogurt, apple, banana (maybe, it's covered in brown spots and I hate them like that!)
D - l/o chilli sossies and veg stir fry with skinny BBQ sauce

Have a good one x

I think sticking with SW and doing the hypno is a great idea. Like you say it could help you break the cycle and make maintaining easier.

Have a good day x

I did it susie, it was 4 sessions. It didnt help me lose weight BUT...
It was in the therapist house in the "good room" which was in a 1950s time warp. The first session he put me way under, i couldnt believe it. But all other i was too conscious of all the clutter. He gave me recordings to continue and then i realised how creepy his voice was and it put me off
The BUT, at the time i was prone to anxiety attacks. Not full on panic attacks but bouts of anxiety were i would get dizzy or heart palpations well the relaxation stopped that.
And i think i would do it again, but yep a posh spa would be so much nicer. And i think for these things to work you have to click with the person and in this case i just didnt

Oh that's really interesting Tipp, thanks so much for sharing - I think I'd be creeped out too in those circumstances.

Of course after Impulsive Me decided something yesterday, Indecisive Me today is wondering if it would just be a waste of money. I read the therapist's email properly earlier (better late than never, I suppose!) and she says it's four courses totalling £360 eeek, I thought it was just a one off. I know I could spend the money on lots of other things, and you don't get the chance to meet to see if you get on - you have to book and pay for it all upfront. So I think I might back out for now, and just focus on SW at home.

But the good news from the day is that my new work is so wonderfully flexible about working hours, so I'm doing 8-4pm, I got a park right outside the building this morning, and it was fabulous to swan out at 4pm today and have a drive in the sunshine! Because YES we have sunshine, and hopefully more tomorrow. I looked at the outside of a house on the market, really promising (lovely views from the back rooms over fields to the sea), and now the lawn is being mowed by a young guy and his mate (he's strimming) who advertised on a local FB group. He was able to come straight round and the garden is looking great - after all the rain!

Such a shame you can't speak to the therapist before the sessions, susie. I think that would really put me off it's an awful lot of money to part with. I can understand your hesitancy. I've heard mixed reports about hypnotherapy. A few people I know have said it was really useful in help giving up smoking, I've tried it three times for fear of driving (i passed my test years ago) I even paid a Harley street specialist £800 for a one hour session. Did absolutely nowt for me, sadly. Maybe some people are more suited to it than others

I think you have made the right decision on the hypnotherapy. £360 is a lot of money to spend on something when you're not sure if it's going to work for you. I tried it for my anxiety years ago, but only because my mum thought it was a good idea. It was not for me and I was properly awake for the whole thing. Never went back for another session. I know it works for some, but I think you need to be very open to it working for you. Mum also bought me the Paul McKenna I can Make You Thin book and I tried it and just ended up laughing when I tried it. I must be too cynical for it.

SW works for you, and over the years you have always gone back to it and got results. xx

Oh El that would have been me too! :D. I tried meditating with a friend once, she whispered "Now empty your mind of all thoughts...", which I really tried to do but five seconds of silence in my head was too much effort and suddenly I was wondering whether penguins wear slippers indoors :classic_roll_eyes:.

Wowser! That’s expensive! I think you’re making the right decision. My friend got hers on groupon, It was about half that price I think and if she didn’t take to it she didn’t have to have or pay for any more sessions. That was about 5 or 6 years ago x
