Serves 4

SW Sweet Chilli Chicken

4 Garlic cloves crushed
113 ml soy sauce
2 tbsp Harissa powder - powder is near impossible to find, so we used 2 tsps of barts Harissa paste which for this recipe has negligible syns!
2 tbsp of sweet chilli sauce 1/2 syn per serving
12 boneless and skinless chicken thighs (we found it cheaper to use breasts cut in 1/2)
salt and pepper
Fresh coriander chopped
1 Lime halved

Cookers tip: This does have quite a kick to it so would recommend halving the harissa and sweet chilli if you dont want it too spicy. I am not a massive spice fan, but found these quantities fine, although next time I am going to use a lighter soy sauce.

marinade the chicken in the sauce and place in a non stick baking tray and cook on gas mark 6 or 200C for 25-30 minutes. 1/2 through baste the chicken.

Homity Pie

step 1) 340g Potatoes cubed

Step 2) 3 good sized leeks
2 Lrg onions
198g frozen Peas

Step 3) 2 garlic cloves crushed
Handful fresh parsley chopped
Handful fresh thyme chopped (dont forget thyme can be frozen!)
2 eggs beaten
3fl oz vegetable stock
170g reduced fat cheddar (we used tescos healthy eating, which is 5 1/2 syns per serving EE or if your on a green day you can have cheese as a HeA) grated

Step 1)Cook potatoes for mashing, and mash then put to one side.

Step 2) fry ingredients from step 2, together until soft

Step 3) mix together, step 1 and step 2 together with ingredients from step 3 - note, half the cheese is to be put to one side for the top of the pie!

Spoon the mixture into an oven proof dish and scatter the remaining cheese on top.

Bake for 20 mins at Gas mark 7 or 200C

We added Courgettes diced to ingredients Step 2 and also served it with Steamed Brocollo and Carrots.

Syn info:

On Extra easy this was a total of 6 syns for both (unless you have cheese as a HeA).

The chicken on its own is 1/2 syn on Original

The Homity pie on its own is free if you use the cheese as a HeA or 5 1/2 syns if you use the cheese we specified.

This is a recipe for harissa paste, i havent made it myself though :)

When the harissa paste is passed around, use this traditional Tunisian blend with extreme caution, the key ingredient being an abundance of chili. Harissa is made with dried chilies as their complexity of flavor is more appropriate than fresh ones. To make harissa paste, blend the following ingredients then crush in a pestle and mortar until a thick paste is formed:

3-1/3 tbsp (50 mL) dried chili flakes,
soaked in the same amount of hot water
1-2/3 tbsp (25 mL) crushed garlic
1-2/3 tbsp (25 mL) sweet paprika
2 tsp (10 mL) each of caraway seed and coriander seed
1 tsp (5 mL) of cumin seeds, dry roasted then ground
1 tsp (5 mL) of salt
6 spearmint leaves finely chopped

I bought my harissa paste in Waitrose but saw it in Tescos this week on the top shelf near the spices. Worth asking a member of staff. The powder was near impossible to find unless I went to a specialist herbal/spice place.

I had sweet chilli chicken and homity pie for dinner and it was delicious. Definitely a good combination, hubby has requested it again tomorrow. Thanks Silvermaneuk for the idea
