I AM A WEMITT x
Does anyone know where I can get the Harissa powder from for this recipe, I can't see it in any supermarkets, do you have to go to a specialist shop.

We have all the usual supermarkets near us, have checked online shopping for it, but no luck.

Thanks :D

it is a Tunisian Chilli Paste containing chilies, cumin, garlic, coriander, caraway seeds, cinnamon and olive oil. So if you can't find it, you can perhaps make it yourself with those ingredients. However with olive oil as an ingredient I would not of thought it was free. I can't remember if it was synned in the magazine???

thanks brit mum I can get the paste no problem, but the recipe asks for the powder and even the more specialist shops haven't got the powder, they all want to sell me the paste.

It seems like I have to order from the internet :(

thanks again

if you have got all the ingredients I listed above, then I would just make up your own, but leave out the olive oil, as it will then be a powder.

I can't see any reason why you could just use the harissa paste as a replacement in the recipe and it's only half a syn for a level tbsp.

Thanks...I thought of doing that its gettng the right amount to use, just wasn't sure wether using 1 tbsp of paste would be equivalent to using 1 tbsp of powder.

Will give it a go, thanks everyone for your help.

Glad you said that Purple Star - I'll do the same.

I have just made this for tea, also without the harissa as I could not find any at the shops. It was really yummy - definitely one to repeat.

I've just had this for tea, also without the harissa and it was scrummy. Had it with rice and stir fried veg and DH said it's the best meal I've cooked yet!

I Had this Last night, and used the Paste, It was fab, served with Papika potato wedges, and a lovely fresh salad. has been one of my favourite meals yet. x
