syns in cooking with alcohol

This subject has come up a couple of times recently (does the syn value of alcohol reduce when cooking with it as the alcohol is burned off?) so I wrote to SW to get the answer from the horses mouth.

They have just replied as follows:

"Sadly cooking with alcohol does not change the nutritional breakdown of it in any way; therefore the Syns will remain the same after this process."

I think the alcohol evaporates but the 'sugars' remain. Bugger!

I did a little research on this topic. The alcohol takes at least 3 hours to evaporate completely. However as less water is lost through slow cooking in a slow crock pot you will actually need less alcohol to add flavour x

I never even though about it I always syn it at full value, what is .5- 1 syn per meal for yummy gravy and pasta sauce? I use half a glass (sometimes less) and split the meal 4 ways.

My fave meal is quorn sasuages cooked in red wine gravy, with tons of mushrooms, caramalized onions, veg and tons of creamy mash Max 1 syn with .5 HEA
