Taken the plunge

Hi everyone,

I've just taken the plunge and placed my first order :) Now I just need to decide when to start? I'm off this week so am thinking that may be ideal if I'm going to be feeling crappy as then unlikely to kill anyone at work ;) but I have a day/night out arranged on Saturday and not sure I can cope with drinking water all the time, not that I'm a big drinker at all, but just can't decide whether to start before or after?

Anyway, just wanted to say have read loads of threads here and am looking forward to joining and will no doubt need some support, help or encouragement along the way. The support here is fabulous and is the main reason I decided to finally go for it. Have been hating my fatness so long but happily took any excuse I could give myself not to do anything about it, or to chastise myself if I tried and failed. With S&S, I like the control I have forced on me by knowing I can't have anything other than the packs, well apart from veg, I'm going to do 4 a day to start with to get me focussed.

Welcome Sun&Moon (I was going to shorten your name but realised it would be S&M ;)). I find it easier to start when I'm at work personally as there is more going on to distract me and I don't think about food too much unlike the weekends when I'm surrounded by food :). I usually have my first pack (a shake) at 10am at work and then it's not too long until my lunchtime pack that leaves me 2 more meals in the evening when I'm feeling weaker. You may not feel awful at all getting into ketosis. I'm lucky in that I have quite an easy time of it (apart from feeling a bit hungry). Personally I'd plan to start next Monday after your night out as you won't want to be messing about going off plan so soon after starting.

Thanks for the advice, you could be right, I did wonder if being home alone would make it too hard for me, so being at work could be the answer, so many decisions to make... I had been leaning towards next week cos of the night out, just so I don't make it harder on myself than it needs to be.

Next Monday could be the best idea, thanks for the advice :)

Edit: Just noticed your losses, fabulous, what a good advert for the plan, hope I can do the same
 
If you stick to plan S&M then you will lose for sure. I'm not saying it's not difficult at times but it definitely works if you stick to it and that's what motivates me to keep going, even on the difficult weeks.
 
Thanks BG, I hope that once I see some losses that will motivate me to carry on. I'm quite good at switching my brain on and off when I need to and can see the benefits of doing, no pain, no gain after all.

I don't particularly like food, I only eat cos I have to, but then I binge on sweets and crisps, so I think I will quite like the packs being purely functional, no hassles over what to cook etc, I am feeling really positive about it :)
 
Welcome to the SnS forum! It probably does make sense to start after the weekend - unless you feel particularly strong about your night out. I go out all the time and drink water - and I go to restaurants and don't eat - but then I am happy being awkward!
 
Hi Weasey, yes I think after the night out is better, I don't have a problem with drinking water on a night out but I haven't seen these friends in a long time, they all smoke, I gave up on NYE so it will be a tough enough test not smoking, without the not drinking too... Altho the more I drink, the more I get tempted to have a cig... Nope ignore that, I def won't have a cig regardless :)

I think next week makes sense, but as I can't make a decision to save my life, I'm likely to change it half a dozen times before then, haha!
 
Thanks hun, I don't think I will either, I reckon I'll be spending a lot of time on my own in the pub whilst they go outside, haha!
 
Hey S&M if it's raining then you'll have the last laugh while they're outside in the wet :)

I started last wednesday, I'm so busy at work that I find it fairly easy to get through the first 3 days. I only suffered a mild headache and tiredness thankfully.
Some suffer more than others but I think if your prepared to feel rough for the first 3-4 days your less likely to give into it.

My packs came today so am actually thinking of just going for it tomorrow, I'm off work at the moment and it might be better for me as I have so much to do at home I can distract myself. As for my Saturday night out, I will just go with the water option I think, I'm totally skint anyway so that makes it a good move for me as it will be far cheaper :)

Oooh decisions, decisions....

Sounds like a good excuse not to spend money on Saturday - go for it!
 
Yep agreed Weasey, how expensive can a few waters be? haha!

I've put my packs out on the kitchen worktop and just eaten a big chickpea curry for my tea, the last supper, haha... The one thing I am going to miss the most is Vimto Cordial, I absolutely love it and drink it every day, I dunno what I'm gonna do with just water :(
 
haha funny how we all seem to have a last supper, mine was roast beef with all the trimmings, I swear I can still taste it lol!
 
Ooh yours sounds so much nicer than mine, had I thought about it I would have had that too... But I'm going on impulse with starting tomorrow so the chickpea curry was what was in the fridge haha!

Fingers crossed this is the right choice for me :)
 
*crosses fingers and toes for you* Im happy to say im just reaching the end of day 2 and the only bad thing i can say is i am peeing for England lol, only had 1 slight headache but 2 paracetamols shifted that, you can do it :)
 
Hi sun and moon.....this is the end of my second day had a slight headache today not feeling hungry...but god I could have killed someone..lol..hoping for a better day tomorrow it has got easier today must admit..good luck
 
There's a sticky on the Exante forum I think about different options for drinks so you might want to have a look and see if anything would work better for you.
