The last 100 metres!

Hi everyone :)

So my plan is to come here and post when I feel like caving... But I thought I'd start today...

I've already lost about 3 stone, and want to finally lose the last 1-2 stones FOR GOOD! I briefly dipped into the 10 stones last summer, but then went back into the 11s and have been here for the last year. I can maintain this weight, but I don't want to! I want to get to the end, my finish line!:winner:

I'm meeting my consultant on Monday. She was the consultant for the 2012/2013 slimmer of year!! I've been trying to be good till then, and have been quite busy so it's not been too hard. I went to the gym this morning, and then will run 5k this evening before I run 5k for the race for life tomorrow (I try to be and am quite active!) :character00116:

I was wondering if anyone else has started CB with a couple stones to lose? And how their journey went?

I'm excited to start, but scared too that I'll find it too hard. I want to finally get there though!! :cross: I always find a little bit of help and support can motivate you through those tough days, and I'm kinda hoping I can find that (and possibly provide it too) here :)

So today is the race for life! Woop! I surpassed my sponsorship target, and the sun is out :party0011:

Tomorrow I meet my consultant, so it feels like it's all go!

Fingers crossed for a good run :fingerscrossed:

Hi illy

We're very similar in that when I diet I never quite reach the finishing line. Always chubby despite being active and fit.

I'm a runner too but I'm injured and trying to fix that and get started again. I've got 4 stones to lose and it's hard carrying that around.

I've done Cambridge before for few weeks but had to stop because I needed carbs for training.

You'll find it hard to run (low carb) and your performance will be affected do
so you'll have to change your routine a bit. When I did Cambridge I managed to do Spin, weights and some classes. Weights would be best to burn fat. Ask at your gym! Cambridge is def worth doing but ease off exercise a little bit. You'll love the results :-!

Good luck for race for life. Those events are always great! Let me know how you go :) x

Back from my run, did the 5k in 34min30s. Hot, uphill, through long grass and hard going in places! But so pleased

Thanks Bubbly :) I did think i would have to change up my exercise, and its helpful to know what it will be like. I love running and spinning! All cardio actually, but i know i'll have to pace myself in the exercise front. I also hurt myself a couple years back which restricted my running. I took the time off from running to let my foot heal and then slowly got back into it. So definitely take that time to heal. Are you on the plan again now?

I've never done the cambridge diet, or any plan like this, but I'm hoping that if I can just grit my teeth and do it, it'll be worth it.

Fab time, well done hun!

Yes, I just started CD today. Actually Started yesterday but fell off wagon at 3pm :-/ back on again.

I'm doing Sole Source to kick start weight loss :)

Ask gym about weights, you'll see a massive difference. Kettle bells are great. X

Thanks :D I need to do more weights, but get bored. Never tried kettle bells though... Will try to give it a go!

Super sleepy now! In bed watching "drop dead diva" on Netflix! And trying not to doze off... Zzzzzzzzzz..... x

I was just thinking about tomorrow and planning my day (i don't work mondays). Have quite a busy and hopefully *exciting* day that will be the 1st day of the last bit of my weight loss. 1st spinning at the gym, then Pilates, then meeting some girlie friends, followed by my 1st consultant appointment. I was wondering how that will go, and also about getting my packets. What's nice to get? Ideally I'd like a mixture of shakes, porridge and soups.

Also can you make them up in advance, ie the shakes or soup and then decant into a thermos for later? I'm out and about a lot for work and don't always have access to a kitchen

... I've just been reading about what people have been advising about exercise... :( I'm an active person, it helps me maintain my weight but more importantly my mood! I'll really struggle if I can't do my running/spinning/combat/yoga/pilates!

worried now :( x

Hi hun, You can't make them up in advance since you have I drink/eat within 10mins since longer than that they begin to diminish! If I'm not near a kitchen I usually carry the right amount of water with a bit of ice (I like my shakes cool) measured in my Cambrige shaker then add the powder when I want it.

Don't worry about the exercise thing, from what you're saying about your weight it sounds like you will prob have to do ss+ or step 2 anyhow so will be having a reasonable amount of calories.

Even if you do do SS I did Pilates every week on it, and did swimming 1-2times a week on ss+, my only advise is to have a shake beforehand and listen to what your body tells you, it'll let you know If you need more cals, but no way give up your exercise!

Hi Illy

You won't have to give up completely. You can still do Spin etc just not 3 high impact classes in a row! I def couldn't run. Like trying to drive with no petrol. My distances went rapidly from 8miles, 6 miles, 4miles. I had to walk home from a 2 miler! If you feel iffy at Spin you just get off the bike but you can't do that with running. I went all dizzy and nearly blacked out. I had to lie down with my legs elevated in the woods and i was on my own! I didn't have a shake before I ran (stupid move) i was trying to operate as normal (was training for marathon n triathlon at time) you won't have to give up exercise completely. Just have to make wee adjustments. You can run on the dread mill too. It's easy to step off that if need be!
Let me know what you do :)

Thanks Ria and Bubbly :) Those days I'm out and about will be shake days! Any recommendations on nice flavours?

Both your comments make me feel better exercise wise! But how scary for you Bubbly! I'm glad you were ok though. I guess I'll just have to keep in mind that I might not be able to do as much and not beat myself up if I have to stop. Don't know if "dread mill" was an auto correct typo but I find the tread mill dead boring to run on now, so feeling the "dread"!!

So today I'm up super early again! And feeling quite pooped too! Woke up sooooooo thirsty in the night! Think it was the crap food I gave into and ate after my super healthy run (my parents brought round KFC, and I went to a BBQ after the run) :sigh: So I have all that rubbish in me that will show up on my consultants weighing scales when I weigh in for the 1st time with her.

I did actually contemplate giving the gym a miss but as I'm up already I'll go as planned. Maybe it'll help me sleep better tonight? That's 3 days crappy sleep and I'm not even on the plan yet!

I'll post some pics up when I can on my diary (I don't think I'm allowed yet?) When i first *first* started (healthy eating to lose weight) about 2yrs back i was 14st and a size 16. Now I'm a 10/12 depending. I know some people would be happy at that but some of my size 10s are a little snug (but 12 too lose ) and i want to be more trim, less wobble! I've got 2stone to lose, or just under...

...I keep telling myself that's do-able....

Shakes wise I'd recommend: Vanilla (it's so creamy n lush!), banana, strawberry and chic. They're the flavours I like. The chic orange got an awful aftertaste n makes me want to heave it up after one mouthful!

Soups: oriental chilli, vegetable, chicken n mushroom are all nice. I'm not that keen on the tomato but some people like it.

Porridge: I stick to original although its a bit sweet. I can't bend my head around flavoured porridge cos I'm Scottish so as far as I'm concerned, it should be salty! Heard apple n cinnamon is nice :)

Bars: I've had the choc one and another. The danger for me was to eat them all. They're higher in carbs so they don't recommend them straight away...

Good luck with your weigh in/cons appt :) x

So, I'm back from my meeting with my consultant. She seemed lovely! :p She thinks that me losing 2 stone more will make me look too skinny though, so she said one stone first and then we'll see. Am so excited to get going!! Although I told my dad (already spoke to my mum) and my dad was skeptical :( he's a doctor so I think it's built in!!

Soooooooooo hope I can do it and that it works! Please please please please please!

I heard a great quote:

"the only exercise (class) you regret is the one that you miss"

so true!

Just tried my size 10 skinny's on- they are a little bit *too* snug  although they do go on and I can do them up.

But still

So that's another "measure" I'm going to use.

Looking forward to when I can sit, and eat, and still breathe in them! What with breathing being essential and all ;)

I forgot to say, my weight on my consultants scale was 11st9! Although mine still says 11st3. Anyway, I have adjusted my scale so it now says the same as the consultants when I stand on it, so we're both on the same page.

cant wait for week 1 to be done

Oh I hate that! My consultants is about 3lb behind mine, but saying that I always see him fully clothed (obv) in the evening, and I weigh naked first thing so there's gonna be a difference.

I love it when clothes start to fit better, it's a great measure! I'm annoyed though since I love new look super soft jeans, my size 12s need a belt at all times but when I tried a 10 in the same pair there wasn't a hope in hell of getting anywhere near done up! I hate being in-betweeny, I'm basically a size11!

X

Maybe try a different size 10? Sometimes just a different pair in the same size will give just that wiggle room needed (also the only way to get into skinny jean!) x
