The really slow loss team!

you still have a right to seek a secong opinion, you can be referred to a specialist clinic regardless of not trying to conceive! i cant take the pill it sends me whappy!! i am the devil incarnate and fat with it. st johns wort made me bleed constantly, continually! metformin isnt a hormone tho so maybe it could help stabilise your sugars and help with the condition.

I do some work with NICE as part fo my job, but under the auspices of venous thromboembolism.

I've just checked on the site, but it appears the only gudielines are an optimal practice review about the use of GHT in ovulation induction for fertility issues and they date back to 2007. Here's a link if you are interested..........

oh poo....no then! what do you do Annya ?

I am the Executive Officer of a national charity called Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity. My work with NICE is as a patient representative and lay expert when they are considering different treatments of VTE.

Sounds flash, but mostly it's not!

ooooooooooo get you

Sorry to hear of your troubles Lou - hope you did get out for the walk.

I walked in the door to find a letter about rent arrears - I thought FFS send me a ton of chocolate nowwwwwwwww!

It's only because a payment went in a bit late but I get so worried about this kind of thing. I am finding it getting more and more difficult financially esp. the food bills!

Anyway another on track day today, so we shall see by Thursday what the result of being "good" is.

Well I am staying on the naughty step until I get back from holiday as supposedly I lost 6lbs ! I nearly dropped to the floor. I know in reality I have not been eating well at all and last nights dinner was half a bag of pick and mix ! But at least it won't look as bad when I put on 10lbs on holiday.

I know realistically it isn't proper weight loss.

Metformin is a diabetic drug which controls blood sugars and helps with the PCOS.

latte...6 pounds!!!! wowzers, dont put it down, if the scales say youve lost it then bask in your glory!!

i googled metformin it sounds like it could reall help me, defo going to doctors i cant believe he didnt even suggest it..stupid man

well...ive been weighed and gained half a pound..phew!!! cant believe it but someone must like me up there today. i am on it 100% now, im going in the wrong direction and these 2 weeks ive been messing about i could have lost another couple of pounds so kicking myself a bit now. glad i went to be weighed cos im using this as a starting point again, im 12.05 now, i was under 12 so thats taunting me, also my friends who got weighed lost 3.5, 2.5 and another lost 3.5....so spurred on now, im gonna get competitive lol x

Hi Lou I am glad your gain wasn't too bad. Some good news about metformin, it is also supposed to help with weight loss that is what my hubbie was told when he was put on them as he had diabetes. He has lost a couple of stone now and the doc has took him off them for a little while to see how he goes on,I am tempted to take some myself lol, now he is off them he is struggling to lose weight so I do wonder if they were what helped him lose weight.

Latte - bl**dy hell chica. Take it an run. But deffo on the baiughty step BIG TIME.

Lou - the half gain is to be celebrated if you think about it, and as you say a HUGE inspiration to keep going. Go and kick ass at the doctors and see if you can get some sense out them. Is there a female doctor you can see? Mine at our surgery in the UK was soooooo much more sympathetic and got me on the right drugs and herbal supplements that really helped.

Latte - surely you're at the top of the staircase now rather than on the naughty step !!

Lou - nice one on the half pound, the best around as far as gains go.

I gained 2lb..... really think this is based on bad eating yesterday and today. Clean slate for me for this week now. I'd love to lose a chunk next week but in reality I'll settle for a loss of absolutely any kind, thank you very much :)

Good luck to those still to weigh in this week ;)

Thanks folks after 10 days in Florida I doubt I will be there when I get back but I am not too worried as we intend to enjoy ourselves and not count anything.
I appear to have lost 4lbs since Sunday according to my scales so something is wrong with me but yes I will take it and run to Disney World.

thanks guys...oh extra weight loss taking the metformin, ill be frog marching myself into doctors tomorrow hahaha.

im ecstatic it was only half a pound and in all fairness it was only saturday and sunday i was naughty but i wasnt naughty on top of ordinary meals i just had naughty stuff in place of meals if you get what i mean, so my calorie intake was probably not as high as i thought. im kicking myself for ordering that blinkin pizza on sunday, i didnt enjoy it and im sure if i hadnt had that i may have maintained. oh well, done now. lets hope i get a good loss next week, id like a pound and a half cos then im back to where i was 2 weeks ago x

may i suggest you dont take his medication?! ? very dangerous unless supervised

Metformin isn't a miracle weight loss cure. Some people lose weight on it at first as they can't keep down food until their stomach gets used to it as it is a very hard drug on the poor old tummy.

It can also help by reducing hormonal cravings for carbs. I have been on it at least 10 years and I have gained lost gained lost and gained three stone ! It stops me from having low blood sugars stabilises my cravings stops the mad hormonal moods and stops me from fainting. I am also on the pill but I think metformin can also help regulate you.

I put 1lb on this week!! Argh!! Tried red and green days and exercised more!! V disappointed!! Will continue eating lots of fish and few carbs. Will also keep up the exercise :) xxx

I only mentioned in jest about metformin helping weight loss. I would never ever take any medication unless it was prescribed to me by a doctor or it could be bought over the counter.

Latte I hope you have a great time in Florida, it was one of the best holidays I have ever been on, you will feel positively slim over there because there are alot of really overweight people in America, when I went I put 10lbs on in two weeks the food is so yummy

im not sure if i would be able to have metformin then...i have ibs? maybe this is why they werent keen to put me on it hmm.... i think i will hang fire and give my herbal supplements a go first and do what the doctor said and wait until end of january. i feel so much better today, i think 2 days of healthy eating helps my mood, eat rubbish-feel rubbish. oh well im taking my girls out for a walk today cos we all need some fresh air!!

Enjoy your walk :) I'm working from home today so I've managed to get out for a couple of walks - I'm happy and the dogs happy too :)
