The really slow loss team!

Hi there Rubyroo and welcome to the plodders group :) It has taken me over 2 years to lose and keep off 16lbs (up and down like a fiddler's elbow me!) and I still have another 20lbs to go

Like you I have some medical and medicinal issues which make it tougher to lose and very easy for me to gain, but all you can is keep chipping away at it.

As Bev said, 'tis a bit quiet on here just now - we seem to gain and lose members like we gain and lose weight - :8855:but us 'old timers' are still around and more than happy to support where we can :)

Aww what a lovely welcome Annya :) .. Thanks so much !! I started ww back in 2011 & slowly lost 1.5 stone and I'm nearly back to where I started back in 2011 for no apparent reason other than medical conditions - I'm very strict with my food & exercise And always have been - so it's very frustrating .. Good to have your support :) xxx

Posting very quickly as I am meant to be getting ready for work to say it has taken me 2 years to lose 1.5 stone and I am still classed as over weight if you look at my bmi but SW lets you call target when you want regardless of official numbers.
I also have various medical conditions and have been on steroids so I really am 1 step forward and 2 steps back but with the support here and at my SW group I never gave up and you can do it too x

Very inspiring :) it's easy to give up when sts or gaining is all I ever do .. But I will carry on .. Thanks for everyone's lovely words :) xx

Iv been doing sw from home for 5 week and iv lost 5lbs, when comparing with other peoples stats thats very slow because some people lose that in 1 week! But iv learned not to compare myself with other people now and just go at my own pace. Im not in any rush so as long as its coming off thats the good thing! Lost 2.5lbs last week so hoping that my body is starting to readjust to my new lifestyle now and starting to lose some

I'm the same, Chloe. I really stick to it too, which makes it very annoying! 9lbs in 11 weeks now and, like you say, when you look at some of the other losses it can be quite disheartening. All it takes though is one positive comment to make you remember that, actually it's all worthwhile - one of my colleagues commented today that it looked like I'd lost lots of weight and instantly the world was a lovely place and I felt slimmer!! :D Joking apart though, I can honestly say I'm enjoying all the meals we're eating and, this time, it's not a quick fix I'm after either. So good luck to everyone - we'll get there in the end! xx

Evening chicas - late on parade today to report WI as I was soooooooooo busy this morning.

Last weeks loss has returned in full so back to being 7 lbs over target
I just need to stick to plan over a weekend - the last 2 weekends have been disastrous what with fiestas and parties. . .
Hey ho - best foot forward for another week.

You've got this Bev. Now all your extra socialising is out of the way for now you will soon be back on track.

As I said on my thread, my scales have gone back next door again to stop me from obsessing and Anjie is away until Friday so no chance of a weigh in 'til then - not that she would let me anyway as neither grovelling nor bribery with fresh free range eggs work on her
:8855:I must admit, I feel better for it already and can only hope for a result this week....but who knows with me?

I am due a review with the GP in a fortnight and I am hoping to plead a lower dose of steroids, but it will all be hinging on the what my bloods say - here's hoping!

Fingers crossed re the steroid. I know you've been on high doses much longer than normal this year.
Maybe then you'll lose some weight with a bit of a whoosh. ((( hugs )))

Hi All.

How is everyone doing? Well I am taking it really slooooow. (Have no other alternative) ...... but I have now taken off 3.5 lbs and kept it off and that is not being 100% so I am pleasantly surprised. I cannot even remember when I joined this thread but I am sure it is around a couple of months so it probably works out at less than 0.5 a week but hey at least it is going down.

I don't have any scales and only weigh once a week and this helps my state of mind I am sure.

Good luck everyone. The thread is quiet but at least it is a place to come and share. :)

Just seen the date 8th of May so not great but no bad either!

Well done Applewoman - you are doing better than me at the moment - and it is summer time so it salads galore!

I think this is a great result! Just keep at it. :)

Hi ladies is it ok if I join you too?

I've been 95% on plan for 6 weeks and am only 5.5 down lol. I'm pleased don't get me wrong and I am very happy for the ladies and gents who are travelling faster but it would be nice to chat to others who find it slow like me.

I have pcos and insulin resistance and from my reading I understand that my body doesn't recognise the insulin well, so it releases more, and insulin causes the ovaries too go wonky and the body to store fat, so that is my problem. My body may work more efficiently once I have lost some weight and the losses might speed up, but I'm not going to bank ok it. I'm thinking it will take a year or more for me to shift this weight.

Welcome Izzyhew. Many of us on the slow loser thread have medical conditions and/or take medicines which make it harder for us to lose. As long as you can accept that it is easier for some than for others, and you aren't one of the lucky others, then it makes it a bit easier (not much though!).

Still, if it takes an age to lose it, you are much more likely to keep it off. It has taken me 2 years to lose 16lbs, but at least it has stayed off. Another 20lbs to go to my initial target, but sadly I seem to be losing and regaining the same couple of pounds just now..... not unusual for me though so I just keep at it. I know it will eventually start coming back off again. Better than giving in and regaining the lot plus more and having to start all over again for the umpteenth time!

Thank you Annya, I am finding that I really enjoy sw which helps immensely. I can't imagine sticking to any other diet long term but i can really see this for a positive lifestyle change, and understand it kinda needs to be forever, so if it's a longer journey then so be it. I have become friends with many on the diary threads - lots of lovely and determined women who I believe are going to get their targets and stay at them! There are a load of other people though who I know will get their target fast but will be back where they started with gains when I'm still half way there lol.

There is little point in comparisons but we are all only human, All we can try and do is understand our conditions and apply any tricks that are relevant to it. I know green days can be insulin inducing so I don't generally use green days, I stick with EE most of the time. I might be able to lose faster on original but to be honest if I tried to do that I think I'd feel restricted and give up so not productive in the longer term.

Hey izzy .. I'm a type 1 diabetic & do all green days - I too am stuck on a weight that either sts or goes up .. Mine Is obviously the insulin I inject so were not that dissimilar in terms of what's prohibiting our weightloss .. Green days keep my sugar levels good I find :) xx

PCOS is one of my conditions and I am on metformin I am classed as pre diabetic.
I also have endometriosis and they are still investigating me for Crohns disease they were convinced I had it hence the 16 wks of steroids plus I now take auto immune suppressents but now they aren't sure so I am going through another round of tests.
It isn't easy to lose weight and in the last two weeks I have put on 3lbs with no indication why and no extras to try and maintain but that is the way my body is and for some reason it is in 2 steps back mode.
I mainly do green days as I don't eat meat and I only do ee if I fancy some fish.

Rubyroo, pesky insulin, pity we can't live without it lol, great that you are able to keep your sugars under control tho.

Latte, I was on metformin too but I stopped taking it a month ago because it was making me ill, my doctor is currently giving me tests to rule stuff out before probably diagnosing IBS, because I am still having episodes even after stopping. I don't know if she will put me back on metformin or not :(

I don't know about your other conditions but have you read the polcystic ovaries handbook, think it's by collette Harris? I found it quite helpful xx

Hi guys, just after some moral support, Ive been doing slimming world for a few weeks now and just don't seem to be losing any weight. I'm not sure I'm following it correctly thought, I cant attend a group because I work shifts so wont be able to go regularly. Ive tried a million other diets and in the past couple of years I have lost about 3 stone but now I seem to have hit a plateau and have tried everything to get past it. :(

Oooo my dream come true if we could - wouldn't need my knackered pancreas then ;) ...
Do you have IBS symptoms? I have IBS, which again means I can be half a stone heavier one day to the next ... I don't take any medication just put up with the pain & bloatyness amongst other things .. ;) I don't think you can really stop the symptoms tbh - mine comes on with stress xx
